While Mr Johnson has been at the forefront of British politics for some time, other members of the Johnson family are also well-known to the public.
The Prime Minister’s sister Rachel Johnson is a famous journalist, while his brother Jo Johnson served as MP of Orpington until 2019.
His father, Stanley Johnson, is a frequent face on our television screens, winning over the hearts of the nation on the ITV reality show, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
But it turns out the Prime Minister’s family tree gets even more interesting, as he is also distantly related to the British Royal Family.
In 2008 Mr Johnson appeared on the BBC programme Who Do You Think You Are, which delves back in time to find a celebrity’s family tree.
Born Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, the programme delves into the ‘de Pfeffel’ line of his family tree.
Lovingly known as ‘Granny Butter’, Mr Johnson’s paternal grandmother Yvonne Irene Eileen Johnson (nee Williams) would claim the name de Pfeffel descended from the French nobility.
A large wooden chest, which contained the ‘de Pfeffel’ silver, was a family heirloom, and would later be revealed as an important clue to the family’s past.
After a lengthy investigation of the future Prime Minister’s family tree, it was revealed that his great-great-great-grandmother Karoline was the illegitimate daughter of Prince Paul von Wurttemberg, the son of German King Friedrich of Wurttemberg.
Astonishingly, it was also revealed on the programme that King Friedrich’s wife was the daughter of Augusta Hanover, Princess Royal of Britain and Ireland.
Her father was Frederick Louis Hanover, who was Prince of Wales at the time and son of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.

The fact is that all of us are related to all great historical figures at some point in history . Now royalty marries commoners instead of just having illegitimate children with them as in times past. Years of inbreeding forces them to bring in new stock. Let's hope it helps to raise the brain power of the royal family since watching Prince Andrews recent interview with Emily Maitlis I was acutely aware of how such dim folk fool so many people into imagining they have some magical quality by dint of a royal title . ? They are an anachronism a quaint sideshow if you like to entertain the gullible masses and reinforce servitude in the UK where so many now live in poverty and yet so few hold vast wealth . Its hard to believe how fooled people have been . I'm sure the queen is a kindly old lady and Prince Charles is perfectly affable too even he's married to the woman who cheated on her husband to destroy his marriage to the one royal in recent times who was truly admirable and that was Diana of course with her beauty vulnerability and great humanity. They screwed it when they threw Diana to the wolves and hoity Kate Middleton wearing Diana's engagement ring won't ever raise her up beyond what she is a boring middleclas person on the make while smiling with a rictus grin next to her sour puss hubby. I do however admire Harry cos he's got his mum's spirit but also learnt the lesson of what's more important than royalty and that's the love of a beautiful woman and his little family . Yes of course power prestige wealth holds many enthralled and I suppose it allows people to dream and monetarily escape the drudgery of a life imposed on them by a vicious class system that still has many doffing their hat to the master. Oh lordy .

(14:07) Are the British Royal Family Really German?
Spoiler - When Prince George becomes king, he will be the MOST British Monarch the kingdom has had in over 300 years. He is 66% English (then German, Scottish, Danish, Russian)
