Indeed, the Jews were looking for The Messiah and (many) except those in positions of power were happy to accept him.HOWEVER ... the 'Great Jewish Guilt' revolves (as does all guilt) around their later denial that they nailed up their own Messiah!

Second religion knows religion is man made. Man answers to a higher law - himself. It doesn’t sincerely believe in god as a separate entity that will punish it for being a fraud. It’s become the fraud know that it knows religion is kidding yourself.
