Miss_Cellaneous: Although I agree with your opinion in many ways. Our Queen doesn't have the final say. I'm not going to copy and paste a link. I would much prefer to try and say what I've learned through our Monarchy in my own words. Princess Margaret fell in love with Peter Townsend. She couldn't marry him as he was a divorced man. Her sister "Our Queen" really felt for Princess Margaret but it was way out of her hands as the Uk Government and the "Church of England" stepped in. Queen E told her sister "Margaret" if she waited 2 years then Margaret could marry P Townsend. Townsend was sent away to another Country for 2 years. Margaret waited for those 2 years. When Townsend came back to the Uk our Queen was then told by the Uk Government and the Church of England that Margaret still couldn't marry Townsend. The only way that Margaret could marry Townsend would be to give up her title as HRH and she would have to forfeit all her rights as a Princess and leave the Uk like King Edward had to do when he abdicated to marry Ms Wallis Simpson. It's all changed now re our Monarchy. I really felt so sorry for Princess Margaret. She just wanted to marry the man that she loved
didn't Queen kill the priest of Church of England ? laugh

Ali. A Priest is of the Catholic Faith. A Vicar is of the Protestant Faith but we are all classed as "Christians" The Uk was mostly Catholic until King Henry the 8th way back in the 14/15th Century changed things. I'm not here to try and give "History" lessons. It's taken me years of watching programmes and reading up on things to know what I know now. If you're really interested, then just look into things.

From what I've learned in the past. Is it true that people from Pakistan don't like people from India because or your or their beliefs? I'm only asking as when I worked for Social Services back in the Uk many years ago. We had a policy stating Valuing Diversity. Which actually stemmed from a McDonalds way down in South America. We had to go and visit a "Temple" and the next day. visit a "Mosque" both of which were enjoyable and "we" learned quite a lot about different "cultures" in just one day............

Bnaughty: They preferred the Spanish beaches so they packed up and fúked off to Gibraltar
I've actually been to Gibraltar for a day's visit. You still have to walk over the sodding runway from the Spanish Border to Gibraltar. There are still no road signs directing people to Gibraltar as the Spanish don't want anyone to know it's there. I still love my pen with the 3 monkeys on though grin

You're living in the past Ali ... and that my friend prevents you from living fully (or at all) In The Now .

In fact Ali, all that there is IS Now !

Maybe you could use YOUR now to move forward, or if that's too big a leap, use NOW to consider 'How you might move forward, how life might look if you did let go of the past ?

If yer allowed one >>> cheers

Well, people can say what they want about the UK, but it is amazing, how an Island became one of worlds most powerful countries.
And if the British economy goes bad sometimes often they are not responsible for it, because banks in other European countries or the USA fell down.
That's the strange thing, if the American economy goes bad in influences all countries in a negative way.
And take the british pop music, one of their most important trademarks these day, for a great part of the world speaks English. But even when I was a child and didn't speak english I loved English and American popmusic.
Take the hardrock/heavy metal.
In The '70's and '80's most important bands were Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Saxon. (all British). Only Alice Cooper (USA and AC/DC Australia, I can recall as real hardrock/metal bands of this times that made it big.
Also symphonic rock, Queen, Yes, Asia and Supertramp. Also Rush (Canada), Boston and Kansas (USA), Focus, Earth and Fire and the Golden Earring(s) (The Netherlands).

Most people in the UK are very friendly and will offer you an helping hand. That is my experience, that is.
The British are a proud folk, well they deserve to be proud.

Yo! Hey thanks for that...I can google those types of things, but couldn’t find THAT oneconfused after you posted, I decided to google “DENCH, Dame Judith”, and then my screen filled with her career, etc...and I saw credits listed for the movie you said, and , of course, it was the one. Don’t know why I seem to have these google problems occasionally. hug
