Brian Cox is arrogant and a fame/glory seeker..

He used to be decent til he got drunk on his fame and..I can't believe he actually did this...but, when faced with climate change deniers he started using a single line on a chart as proof of cliimate change..he's an idiot....and if he was a real scientist he would never have done that...He' have explained it's far far far far far more complicated...and knowledge of many scientific subjects is needed in order to truly understand it (climate change)

There are as many stars out there as there are grains of sand on every beach in the world...but we only call one of them "The Sun"...grin

Prof. Brian Cox is a brilliant man, he combines a brilliant physicist mind with an ability to put concepts into everyday language, I don't blame you for your sacrilege, one of my heroes, not yours.

Powerful supernova explosions can fling trillions of tonnes of atoms into space with such ferocity that they escape their home galaxy’s gravitational pull and fall towards larger neighbours in enormous clouds that travel at hundreds of kilometres per second

Yeh, there could be other "earths" out there..but will it have the right conditions to support life..and if there was is (or could) that other "life" be the same as we have here?

The odds of billions of years of "coincedences, accidents and random events" occuring on those other planets, that brought about life on this earth, not forgetting us humans are so remote I can't imagine there's any chance those same events would happen all over again...

It only needed for one thing not to happen and we wouldn't be here...not forgetting that earth's natural state is one of going in and out of an ice age....and life could have missed the warm period we're in now (that we're helping to prolong by the way)...sorry going off topic a bit there...

That parallel universe theory was borne out of string theory...and one I don't buy...It sounds good conceptually but in reality? naw...I don't buy it.

I don't know if I'd call him brilliant..he doesn't really know much more than most phsycisists...he's a nice enough chap though, pleasant and it is his passion so I wouldn't knock him for that...and he is good at explaining it in a way the ordinary man woman or child would understand (don't take that as a personal slight it's not intended that way)..

He might be one of your heroes and I wouldn't hold that agaisnt you...we all have our heroes...he's just not one of mine..He's standing on the shoulder of the true giants in my opinion..and they are the true heroes of science.

What annoyed me was his using one line on a chart as the complete evidence of climate change. That was not impressive. And it wasn't even a complete chart at that..it only went back a few hundred years....To really get the full picture stuff like that needs to looked at in the context of millions of years....

The Milky Way is such a teeny teeeny tiny part of the universe it's mere loose change...

its great what has be proven along the way, but there is more unknown than known, that is what makes it fascinating and mystic to learn and discover, some gems of info will be discovered in the near future as before
the jig-saw of the universe imo will be revealed after life by God......all our questions will be answered
the puzzel will be answered.

Yes, just when they thought they'd answered all the questions they "discovered" atoms. Then they declared there was little else to "discover"...that was over 100 years ago...since then they discovered sub atomic particles, quarks, and more recently the higgs boson (and the higgs field)...and now the big mystery is dark matter and energy..oh..and why the universe is expanding faster than the calculations say it should (they thought dark matter answered that question but it falls drastically short though(...

Wwe'll never know it all and nor will we, I hope. We should leave things for future generations to discover..so they too can experience the sheer delight of having locked doors opened to them..and the intruige of mysterys yet to be found and explained...

The only god we need...or should need, is Mother nature...no God (in my mind) could create the stunning vista that nature can produce using just two of the most simple ingredients...matter and energy..

yes i have heard of some of the points you made there, each ten years that goes by there seems to be a better invention across the board, things keep improving, special really, and yet this world keeps spinning baked in the sun, 13.6 billion years old ?

I guess every star has some planets circling around it, so there are over 99999999999999 suns
