Track16: Never gets talked about but a real danger non the less
Haven't had that happen to my dogs, thankfully.
I did read a post on another site about leaving a collar on while leaving your dog crated. The tags and collar opening mechanism can be caught in the little spaces around a crate and potentially choke as well. Never leave your dog with a collar on inside the home - or should it be a necessity, leave a body harness on.

I hate collars, many a needless death because of them. Break away collars are the exception, they are safer. Body harness is the best for safety and animal comfort when being walked.

Taralyn: That's not the animals fault though. A domesticated animal is only as good as the human who trains and cares for it. If you don't take the time to teach proper manners and praise when manners are learned, you will have an unmannered animal. Animals can't lock themselves in houses, animals won't go without food just because........

For a lot of people, dog lovers or cat lovers mostly, the only pet they should own should come from a toy store and require batteries. That's all the attention span some people have.
Cats are much more user friendly and are faithful friends cats meow tip hat

agree, although often cats can take care of themselves, as long as they have the possibility to go outside.
There are several farmers here who have a cat, and they don't feed them, the cats have to catch the mice and eat them.

tomcatty: I live on the edge of a National Park, which has sheep grazing right, dogs are left off the leash by irresponsible owners to worry and attack sheep and lambs. This could be the farmer's profit to keep his family, not to mention the distress caused to sheep.
In the meantime throughout the nation, domestic cats roam free to kill untold numbers of birds and other wildlife.
