The Republican-dominated Maricopa County Board of Supervisors said in a letter Monday that the Arizona state Senate's GOP-led audit of its 2020 presidential election results should be called off.
Why it matters: The letter underscores divisions in the GOP between loyalists of former President Trump and those denouncing baseless election claims, which saw Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) ousted last Wednesday as the third-highest ranking House Republican after speaking out on the matter.

In a letter sent Wednesday, state Senate President Karen Fann asked the Board of Supervisors to explain several irregularities uncovered during the early stages of the audit.
Fann wrote the first issue is with regards to “Maricopa County’s apparent intent to renege on its previous commitment to comply fully with the legislative subpoenas.” She went on to say the chain of custody of the ballots has been insufficiently recorded, resulting in “apparent omissions, inconsistencies and anomalies.”
Most notably, however, was the recent discovery of several deleted databases from the Election Management System. One America’s Christina Bobb has more.
Arizona state Sen. Kelly Townsend (R) said Democrat efforts to stop the audit of 2020 election fraud may suggest foul play took place last November.
Townsend stressed recent attacks on Arizona audit in mainstream media and by Democrat Party officials are purely partisan in nature. She added, Democrats apparently oppose election integrity for some reason.
Townsend went on to say Republican state lawmakers and the auditors have received numerous threats, which only strengthens their motivation to complete the audit

there is plenty of evidence that things need to be investigated and laws put into place to ensure that the damages we're incurring now, can't so easily happen again.

News flash for you. No shenanigans were found after all the sweeping of the worthless lawsuits and the recounts and audits. Rudy's farting and dripping hair dye and the weird woman who threatened to unleash the kraken lawsuit, was a freak show you would expect in a third world country. He didn't allow any statements that contradicted him. Truth be damned, he just could not face losing. He thought he could cheat and bully his way to stealing an election. Didn't work with his Ukraine extortion dirty tricks, didn't work with trying to threaten Georgia election officials to throw him votes like a thug in a bad movie. He failed.
