Davy Jones (sadly not with us now) grew up not far from where I grew up. I remember not long after the Monkees became famous he came back here to visit his relatives. I remember trying to cycle along a main road near my house and there being huge traffic jam. It seems word had got out and the road near his house was blocked with thousands of screaming girls hoping to get a glimpse of Davy.

I think he returned to the States pretty quickly.
I remember watching The Monkees on Saturday mornings, after Bugs Bunny, and other great cartoons were done playing here in the States.. Was great to be a kid on Saturday morning back then..

From the 1966 album, The Monkeys ... On the back cover, it says, meet the monkeys... ... and lists all their heights, eye and hair color... David Jones, 5'3" ... Mike Nesmith, 6'1" ... Peter Tork, 5'11" ... Micky Dolenz, 6' ... I have 4-5 albums, I didn't buy any of them, a friend gave them to me over 30 years ago... This is the last song on side 2...
