would you recommend for me, a guy used to safety and little corruption too.
I will be sitting restauring cars, so I want them not to be stolen over night too often.
So apart from Norway or Iceland where could I expect to be left in peace and still have nice neighbors. I would prefer not to have to pay a monthly sum for local protection.

You didn’t mention cost of living criteria so I will assume you might like to live at my favorite Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina, I only spent about 12 weeks there once and always felt warm and safe unless a DI was in my face. I learned how to swim safely and in hostile environments there too. I think you will like it there.
Happiness is rated high in surveys about quality of living in central America. Also take it you did not mean Puerto Rico, that for that matter might be quite nice also.
We had a blogger Frank from PR a few years back, a real gentleman.
Grandsiozzie: If cost of living is low, and property too that is a plus, not a minus. Not seeking lux. What is DI? Must be something different to a DJ I presume.
There are several Islands down that way. Hilton head might suit you better than Parris Island were I went through basic training though. A DI Is a Drill Instructor.

Wow! There is a lot of corruption in central America and femicide is frequent there, especially in el Salvador. I thought Femicide was bad in Mexico but in fact it is a crisis in el salvador.

Panama is a retirement country favoured by many Americans, mainly because the currency is US dollars, but Costa Rica is considered safer. Both of them are cheap, relatively safe and warm. I very much enjoyed my travels in Panama....

If it’s so good there , why don’t you retire there yourself ?

Right now I'm in my favourite place in the world. I'm camping next to a beach in the Snowdonia National Park. I spend a lot of time here, this is my retirement and I love it.

Not my idea of fun . A nice little villa on one of the beautiful greek islands overlooking the calm seas , a spot of fishing & cooking it over a bbq with friends , is my idea of heaven , but each to their own .

The title of this thread was "Retirement and what warm Country?" So why are you telling people to "move" there? It was just a question on peoples views ffs. He never said that he lived there. Geez, some people need to get a grip. Especially the "faceless ones"

Greek islands, or mainland for that matter is on top of my previous list, but Italy is tempting too. I'm just a bit concerned about 'safety' if you catch my drift. Cars and welding on them..fixing up buildings too.. might look like a "rich guy from up north came rolling in" Don't want jealous locals to come trying to 'collect some taxes'...

Go to Panama, just steer clear of the Darien Gap and you'll be fine.....
