We are scared about snakes because we link it with poisoning and dead. But only a small part of the snakes are deadly whether they are toxic or not! A big python or anaconda could easily strangle an adult person, as well as a western diamond rattlesnake or black mamba can kill a person by a toxic bite.
It is the same attitude as we have with sharks. They scare us because or stories about killer snakes or sharks lead to a total wrong view on these animals!! incredible, we should be more concerned about our own species than about this magnificent animals, at least they never kill without a cause. Our species doesn't need a trigger more people are killed by humans than by any wildlife!!

That's because we spend a lot of time together. I don't know if you've seen snakes on a plane but the same proximity with a snake is actually quite a lot worse than being around people.
