Youcannow: How will you cope with rising energy & food bills.
Do you have any money saving tips to beat these rising costs ?
This is a Uk thing. Let's just hope that the Uk Government steps in and stops these Companies doing this to us. This has nothing to do with America. This is our British Government that are doing this to us. Do you have any money saving costs? Maybe your "Greek" off shore accounts rolling on the floor laughing

Ten_of_cupss: Alcohol and cigarettes are highly taxable goods...
So is the fuel...
People won't give up on them no matter what...ma be because it gives them a false sense of status...
I think you’ll find that all commodities are taxable .

ChesneyChrist: Join a gym and use their heating and hot water. And remember that the unwritten rule against drinking all of the complimentary juice isn't technically a rule.
Yes , join a gym for £50 a month to save a few £s on energy bills
Makes perfect economical sense!

Well, I know every good is taxed but some are more taxed than others and that's why I said "highly" taxable...
There are licenses and other different taxes included in the price of fuel, alcohol and cigs...

Youcannow: You e spent £5.20. To me , that’s not saving money , especially when you consider the trip was not necessary
Saving money would be a walk locally, or cycle to a local park .

Alcohol & cigarettes are a choice .
Unfortunately , some companies need fuel for business purposes .
However , the best way of raising taxes , or take away profits is through inflation.

It's the poor who spend more money.
They spend money they don't even have...
The price rise started with Covid and no, it wasn't more expensive to keep the work process going.
Many companies made profits they never had before...
The present situation is a pure speculation and I hear it every day from business people...

I can’t speak about others but the hospitality industry was hit the hardest during the pandemic.
The lockdowns made it virtually impossible to operate & many went down in the process.
Luckily we survived , but there are other obstacles to encounter now .

bodleing2: Almost all my cycling is off road. I cycled back from Hebdon Bridge in West Yorkshire on Thursday a journey of about 40 miles in total, all off road except for the last two miles. A great day out with total spend of £5.20.
That's what I thought this thread was about...saving money.
Easy say but take no notice Bo.
A man of your integrity and kindness shouldn't be subjected to the two idiots of CS

One has a so called business , usually that takes up ALOT of someone's time, that's of course if its successful, and usually run by good hardworking people...I don't know where he gets the time to be here.
Dunno what the other fella is and I won't waste a second thinking of it.

Fair play, I envy your lifestyle...wow

Now that you mention it...the oddly protruding nose...the little teeth...the greasy hair, and I've no doubt the sticky fingers....yes , yes you do look like a rat.

Now you mention it . I can see the resemblance.
It’s not one of my flattering poses.

The whole hospitality business suffered because that was one of the goals, to isolate and depress people more than just make them fear for their lives.
Of course there were places that served the elite and some stupid "famous" people couldn't resist and brag about it on social media...or they were just so dumb they didn't realise they can't tag themselves in clubs and bars and so on at That time...
I believe it was the same all over the world.
