Gaslighting is one of the most toxic of all, pretending to be caring and supportive while slowly eroding the other person's confidence and making them increasingly needy and dependent. This is an old one, originally (there was a film) it was to make the other believe she was insane, but it has morphed somewhat. Very hard to get your head around your closest confidante destroying you to keep you close but there are some very "devoted" gaslighters out there.
If the person you love who is always there yet doesn't make you feel great and secure and blooming, but actually the opposite, look up gaslighting ... just in case ...
