Howdy--for a long time I have had an issue with a part of "law" dealing with what is commonly known as "attractive nuisance". For instance, if a smart aleck is mesmerized by a huge beautiful Harley motorcycle, and sits on it and it falls and injures him in the process, he can sue the owner, and usually the owner will lose because of this law. Same thing owning a swimming pool--some twenty-somethings jump your fence and get hurt (or worse) it can be the homeowners "fault"--(in California and Oregon, it almost always is, and furthermore, you MUST carry heavy insurance in order to have an in-ground swimming pool. I just think these laws are way unfair. Your thoughts?
Stringy_Bob: Agreed. Might be different over there. Over here, you try to stop someone committing a crime and they come off worse, in most cases, you're the one going to Matalan to buy a cheap suit for your court appearance.
Coldheaven: Your rules are awfully unfair. That’s terrible.
Everyone says that, too. Still, I love America, and (knock wood...) so far I've stayed away from too much trouble. Too many people I love haven't been able to --but many of us love and defend The United States wholeheartedly, just the same. Life isn't ever going to be perfect. Pray for our country. There really are many, many kind and genuine citizens here.
We ve a ridiculous situation over here,..Garda (cop) doing his job is being taken to court for reckless endangerment because 3 scrotes out on their nights work commiting robberies decided to drive the wrong way down a motorway and ran head on into a lorry and were burned to a cinder. All the cop was doing was trying to warn traffic. So now every oxygen thief out there is driving down against traffic as they know they won't be followed.... totally not right ...once they re on the wrong side of the law whether walking running or driving to get away they should lose every right the rest of us law abiding citizens are entitled to

We did have a case near 20 years ago where a Mayo farmer shot a traveller...got done for manslaughter and was jailed but overturned on appeal as original trial judge didn't give the self defence option to the jury ...there is an element of self defence in our laws but has to be proportional
truheart1941: ......i dont agree.............we all have our off days...............people should be more understsanding.........
Farmer was in his 70s and plagued with the p1key coming onto his land up to no good...used to sit up at night afraid he d get done in himself. ... similar case due up next year ... this time it s a barrister who did the shooting of an intruder...be interesting to see how that one goes
