Eh... Len, can I ask you do you think a two state solution is possible? What does it take to get there you recon.
Would a one state solution be ok in your eyes (basically all the Palestinians live in a big Israel).
Me think a two state solution is still possible if the Palst side grows up fast, but if they fail to grab this chance it is not unlikely to me if a one state solution eventually will remain as the only real alternative. So I would encourage the Palsts to hurry up here while it's still on the table, the best way out for them: a two state solution. The chance is now, soon.

I'll be honest that i don't have the feels on the ground. However I think the end should be a one-state solution would be the best.
A two-state solution. I don't have a good feeling with any muslim majority country in that region. Egypt, Libanon, Jordan, Syria, Saudi, Lybia, Iran, ... I would have no trust in Palestine and their leader(future leader or current). As none of these other countries feel like my friends. Palestinians sound educated, but the terror and violence amongst themselves is huge.
I'm not used to seeing Israel as this aggressive. But now it show how vile the right-wing is. How much propaganda they had pushing a zionist agenda, that eliminate the sense of humanity of the Palestinians/Arabs in the media. How desperate and sad the Palestinians are being treated by army and prisons and such.
So in short time there should be a road to more balance. Palestinians will have to get a better life and no oppression. Israeli Jewish zealots should be blocked and unarmed. Maybe the Jewish attraction to get migrants should be slowed. Let the Palestinians migrate in.
Then a correcting, where the refugees of 1948 can start returning. Some settlements moved. And equal treatment in the future. I assume Israel-Palestine will be the new name. Trials and shaming of criminals within the Likud party and some others.
I believe if Palestinians had a better outlook, then they will be a lot calmer. I believe a lot of Israeli don't realize how bad their country behaves. They will need to mix the history and understand. But let us call it that both sides wanted to do ethnic cleansing of the same land and Israel has been winning since 1918.
Will it work that i don't know. It is not like they are on a small island together. Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, it is a big region with a great chance of development if they stop fighting.
There is enough EU and USA and oil money being flooded in the area.

The highlighted passage says it all. I got kicked to the kerb for daring to speak out against Israel's attitude so here's hoping yours is accepted.

Agree on these two at least, plenty funds and great potential. Gaza can be super duper if only somebody with the right attiude take charge. They will have to be solution oriented and peaceful.
Latest update. 2 women , a mother & daughter have been shot dead in a Christian church in northern Gaza by Israeli snipers . The holy church was a refuge for for Christians taking shelter with 50 handicapped people & the 2 were shot while leaving the refuge to go to the toilet . The church was hit by an Israeli tank damaging its water & electricity systems rendering it unusable. So that’s 3 hostages , 2 elderly Christians & a media man in the last few days . The media has been targeted in particular. Why , because the IDF want to hide the atrocities going on in the Gaza Strip .
Some people intentionally ignore important information and go with their personal feelings. I see them turning a blind eye on some eye opening stuff provided by their "emotional enemy". How touchy.

The West Bank has a peaceful government, with no Hamas & no hostility towards Israel , yet the Israelis are raiding Palestinians on a regular basis & illegal settlers taking Palestinian land killing over 300 civilians since 7/10 . So what’s the excuse?
Germany, Britain & France have issued a joint statement asking for a ceasefire & negotiations to take place immediately. This shows how severe the situation has become . The USA is the only ones who support the continuation of the conflict & are becoming ever isolated in its views . 70 days into the conflict & none of Israel’s objectives have been met .

Well, sure. Could be the Israelis, at least after oct.7th, been too heavy handed on the W.B. not ruling that out. However, they been not present on Gaza in the 18 last years but that didn't help on the security: still 1200 slaughtered targeted civilians in one day, out of the clear blue sky. So I don't know. But I do now the people on Gaza need new leaders. Good ones. Then West Bank later John.
I can tell you though, if Israel get abselutely nowhere with this campaign the suffering Palestinians in Gaza is in worse trouble than before. Cos then I guess Israel will like in 2005 just give the place up and build a fortess around it that is so completely impenetrable that even the North/South Korean border is easier to jump. You see, another oct.7th will not be allowed. Trust me on that one.

Here's an interesting link to the fact that Gaza has been continually attacked since the Israeli withdrawal in 2005.

No , Israeli never left Gaza . They control anything & everything going in & out , the electricity, water & boarder . Gaza has never been free . Israel has made sure it has & will remain , not even an open prison , but a ghetto.

Conrad73: Ethnic Cleansing? Better look up the meaning of that term again, instead of accepting the UN's and EU's garbage-interpretation of it.
So what would you call 700, 000 illegal settlements in the West Bank ? 237 people killed since 7/10 , with thousands injured . Children afraid to play outside for fear of being shot . Agriculture, mainly olive growths being destroyed by illegal Israeli settlers
I think it can get worse for them than in the last 18 years, actually. Unless if they wise up now. They can do it.
I understand you feel for the underdog John, with your background and personal experiences, but I have one final question for you or anybody else here on this thread:
Do you seriously not see no need to demand something from the Palestinians here... we as a world community should just continue to buy into this victim story and never ask them to get a grip inside their own lines? We can seriously not ask the adults there to hold back their own youth with machine guns and rockets in the name of building a better future for all No?
