"To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived ... this is to have succeeded"
...a favourite quote ... and the way I measure my life today.
I agree with you Lee, it does feels like a journey not a destination...and a way of being that is beyond the physical, beyond the ego, beyond the stuff and that goes straight to the heart.
It is interesting to contemplate the whole notion of success in a success driven culture ... as we see here, it can mean such different things in different circumstances... thank you for the question.
Good morning. I have never woken up excited except that I have coffee and creamer downstairs waiting for me. Always tired in the morning, but that's just how I am. Doesn't mean my life isn't successful or that I'm not happy. I just have a slow metabolism in the am.
If one reaches goals set... success... However, when that's done there seems that most people ask"what else?" or "now what?"
For myself, I believe we have countless successes.
It would seem our successes and failures would be more after we are gone... and, to an extent, yes. The ripple effect never stops... Yet, in order to create these ripples we have to succeed in the now.
Not sure there is a measurment, though. I don't think some can be measured considering how wide an far...on, on... the ripples carry.
It is a journey, human calling, and part of the circle and more...
not assets...or even concentional, though some tried and true ways will always be a base. We are the assets...life, death, nature...

success...would be when i make it home alive....
when i see my 3 kids as who they are and money is not as important as doing what they can to help....
my son on his 4th day at his 1st job...brought some people home with him from work.
a couple of kids that couldn't afford to fix their computer...he took it allllllllll apart and for 5 hours worked on it while we made frozen pizza cuz we had no money for more.
the kids made music on a saw with a bow and an acordian...it was incredible...he hooked them up and said goodbye...never asked for a cent.
later a 57yr old woman ,(so not some hottie that he could have motives about) also came home with him and he did the same thing...she asked him .."may i please give you SOMETHING?" and he politely said "no .... absolutely not"
i used to think i was successful. you know, marriage, kids, nice house, career, social life, then i found out i was wrong. kids went off to college, marriage fell apart, selling house. now i'm left with a new kind of social life, which is good, and my career. i realize that it was none of those things. it needs to be about my relationship with God. If I have that the other stuff will fall in place.
It is rather obvious ... everyone has own measurement of success. We all have different dreams and wishes.
For me ... susccess means To be able to think optimistically in case to overcome challenges, and distractions. To trust my moral fiber intuition ... helps to acomplish tasks. And a lot of hard work with a positive results and feel of satisfaction of what I’ve accomplished.
English language has been an immense challenge, for me. Succesful college graduation, getting a great job which I enjoy. I really proud of myself thus I feel unbeaten. I’ve survived in Canada ... Success ? Oh, yes
I am not the job I keep, nor the money I have,or don't have for that matter.... ...I am just me,and how I conduct myself, the compassion I have, the warmth of of my heart, how I deal, how I related,my self worth is my success, and is how I would LIKE to be measured, deep down though, and through the love of others,it tells me all I need to know....
To make the world a better place for our children, and their's.
To enjoy the aesthetic gifts of the planet: a warm waterfall in the jungle, dates from an oasis, the wind and roar of a motorcycle, the call of an eagle at 13,000 feet, the smile of the woman I love...
To have one child say to me, with a wisdom greater than his or her years, "Thank you...."
How you feel about yourself and how you treat others. Have you made a positive impact on those around you? Will you be remembered as someone who gave of yourself completly without expecting something in return? That is how I measure success...
im probably the farthest person from being sucessful, but you know, it dont matter to me one bit, im just going through life happy as i can be with my friends and my family because after everyting is over, thats all we have-besides our word-
