Attractiveness is both objective and subjective. In the real world, do you approach someone at a social event, etc., and say, "Hey, you're a 3, nice to meet you, but I must be going now". No, you do not. Yet with the anonymity of cyber-space there is now the means here, to do just that. It is an ill-conceived feature with no thought to;

Awareness of the recent and historical influences that define society’s standards of beauty.
Awareness of the cyclical nature of fashion and popular culture.
An understanding of how they themselves may be influenced by cultural standards of attractiveness.
An understanding of the issues that can arise when the general population tries to live up to specific standards of attractiveness.

Don't tell me to lighten up, this is reality.

You have a point...

It would have been more interesting if it showed who gave low ratings (from 5 to 1) rather than those who give high ratings.

I suspect everyone would have better ratings overall if this were the case.

I am having one of my rare cynical moments.

Don't like this rating picture thing. Haven't even gone into it. You can't tell what kind of a person is by his/her picture.
