It was not known that Striped Bass could live year round in fresh water until the Santee Cooper River (South Carolina) was damed and unknowingly trapped some Striped Bass spawning upstream.

which led to....

The Striped Bass, White Bass and White Perch are all cousins and have been cross bred to make hybrids. One hybrid is called a "Swiper" These fish re stocked in fresh water and farmed as well.
