I stopped drinking 7.5 years ago, and the "bar scene" wasn't a preferrable location for me to meet women. I use to think people placing classified ads in newspaper or other publications looking for someone was kind of weird. But all that has changed with the internet....I prefer to meet people online and get to know more about them before we meet face to face.

I used to *work* as a host in a chat room for an ISP.. I got to *meet* a lot of people that way... so for me it was just kind of the next step.
I have met people (in big groups).. men and women.. (not necessarily single) and I have made some very good friends over the years that way.
One's I am still in regular RL contact with ... (and holiday with too!)
So *dating* someone I had originally met on-line didn't seem like a bad idea.
