and I'm terrified. I went to the opthalmologist yesterday & he said my cataracts are so bad if I don't have the surgery I will be blind very soon. So he asked me which is more frightening going blind or having the surgery??? That put it in perspective for me & I'm scheduled to have my left eye done on March 24th & my right eye on April 9th.
Has anyone out there ever had it done? or know of someone who has had it?? I would appreciate any positive stories on the subject, to help ease my fears.
A friend of mine had laser eye surgery a few years ago, all was fine, was easier than he had anticipated and recovery was very quick with instant results.

Go for i hun one of my clients had it done . recover in a few day only had to wear dark glasses for a while. The results were amazing and if she can do it with her mental health problems a love strong minded lady like your self will sail through. Its well worth it and think about it you can get a good eye full of all the lovelly men on here then
Tiger Woods had it done and whats good for tiger is good for the world. haha And don't worry about having to wear those giant black glasses afterwards ... I was told big sunglasses are "in" style. Good luck and smart choice.
Scottish lass Please be assured that this surgery is a piece of cake. My ex had it done a few years ago, and he said it was a blessing...no more glasses except to read..Don't be afraid, it is far better than not being able to see.

I have known several people (six) who have has laser surgery and although they were all very nervous at the prospect, afterwards they were a) delighted with the results. b) Amazed by how little post op discomfort they had. c) unanimous in saying the experience was interesting rather than terrifying.
I am a little phobic about even standard eye tests but after my friends feedback actually went to be evaluated for Lasiks, (which will not work with my vision problem )
Was asking you about this lass,no need to worry, there are many stories that I could tell but only two short ones, guy wore thick glasses was very bad at seeing still, young fella,he got the lazer and when he came in where I work he was amazed how clear all was with no glasses, little discomfort but nothing painful, you have to know the facts.Another person,an elderly lady came in,she wore thick glasses although they did her no good any longer so she had lazer surgery,I had never seen her so happy as I did when she came in there and could see where she was going without her glasses, should have seen her,she would walk around all day past my work taking in all what she couldn't see before, you keep calm and enjoy the fact that it can be fixed,we all will be here for you to SEE when you are done
I had lasik to correct my vision back in 2005 and I don't think the surgery to correct cataracts is much different. It was really pretty easy. Not sure if the procedure is the same, but some of the things you might be prepared to expect....
They'll put drops in your eyes to numb the surface...
They'll sorta clamp a device to your eye to hold your eyelids open, don't be surprised if you see red splotches on the whites of your eyes afterwards...they're like bruises....they'll go away.
You'll see more than you'll feel, you'll see something (the blade) come towards your eye to make the flap that they'll fold back.
You'll see the white light that they want you to stare at, concentrate on that if you can so your eye doesn't wander...but they'll be good about telling you to look at it.
The actual laser part for me only took about 10 seconds and you'll hear kind of a loud knocking....don't get up to answer the door...lol
Then you'll see something when they put the flap back in place & smooth it down.
If they're doing just one eye, you're done. If they're doing both, it's just a repeat.
Also, if you want it, I'm sure they'd give you valium to help calm your nerves. I didn't have one & it was no big deal. You'll be fine.
THANK YOU ALL for your support & words of encouragement. It really does help. I will re-read this post just before I leave for the surgery to help reinforce my confidence.

I had laser eye surgery 10 years ago about a different kind of problem.
Pretty much as everyone said: No reason to worry, you'll be in and out b4 you know it, no pain at all. And you'll *see* things differently from day 1 !!!
Just watch it in the first couple of weeks as you need to protect those eyes from the dangers of possible infection: just stay at home for a couple of weeks - i suppose your doctor will advise you on this!
