Thank you Conrad .... nice to have a gentleman around who is sensitive enough to post such a nice thread...... bouquet To those lucky enough to still have their Mothers alive and well - tis a good time to pay homage to them, for all the things they did for you when you were unable to do anything for yourself.

Something sad I remember about one of my friends in South Africa, a grown woman, who told that she was an abandoned baby. Her mother was a school girl, and had given birth to her in the toilets of a rural school ...... and dropped her down the pit. Fortunately someone found her, and she grew up never to know who that very frightened young girl was who gave birth to her - she`d been handed over to the authorities and placed in an institution. She`d researched her birth and traced up this scanty information. Her solace in life was that at least she had not been aborted!sad flower

Ok - so there is an official 'Mother's Day' - but we should celebrate out mothers on a more regualt basis... like every day or once a week - instead of taking her out for a meal buy her some flowers and smile and say:

'Mother dear - I bought these just for you. I couldn't afford a meal AND flowers, but they are very nutricious AND you could do with going on a diet - so either enjoy these beautiful flowers and let their delicate perfume waft up your huge flared nostrils - or eat 'em!'

kiss

Yes,sometimes we tend to forget that we have a pretty good life after allsigh
I remember in the Bahamas, hardly ever that a week went by without some Boatloads of Haitian Boat-People trying to sneak in,and hopefully make a somewhat better life for themselves, even if it was only enough to fill their Bellies every day. Many of them didn't survive the trip,or drowned to get ashore.
Some of the Captains even forced them to swim the last few hundred meters,so THEY wouldn't get caughtfrustrated
And the Leaders,not giving a SH**very mad
I hate to see people being treated worse than Animalsmumbling

Here`s where I disagree with you..sort of .... People are very seldom treated worse than animals - at least they dont get skinned alive to make coats, or herded into trucks and taken to a meat factory! At least the Haitians had their own destiny worked out, in their own way...

Hey, this is a Mothers Day Thread, why we talking doom and gloom? I posted that story of mine to sort of try and make us aware that no matter how "bad" we think our mothers may have been .... they at least gave us life..... Lots of people do blame their parents for things, and forget that parents are only grown-up children, on a learn-as-you-live programme....dancing cheers

I think I`m gonna go bake myself a chocolate cake to celebrate myself and all my shortcomings..cake smoking

I might not have the opportunity to be here in this forum often the last days, but I try to pass and read as much as I can.Thats a very nice thread Conrad and thank you for the wishes. I don't really think a mother expects anything than to see her children well and healthy-thats the biggest gift for us. We embrace our children at any age- to be mother never stops,as old as we get.Love for our children will allways be the most important part of us!
Happy Mothersday !!!teddybear
