I have a torn rotator cuff---skin cancer (benign)--displasia--emphezema--pinched sciatic nerve--arthritis---ulcer--hernia--osteoporosis and I suffer from seasonal depression and extremely high blood pressure---last month it was 196 over 86. I think that is all.
OK. The worst of it is that I had a bone in the middle of my spinal cord. The cord was tethered to it so that any time I bent over or sat down, it stretched my spinal cord. It was very painful, and extremely rare.
The bone was drilled out almost 4 years ago. I was very lucky with my surgeon. He had done six of these previously. It was a very risky surgery.
I do have some residual nerve damage and have nerve pain from it sometimes. I don't have it all the time because we've been fortunate in finding meds that control it.
Most of you know that I have multiple sclerosis. I have been undergoing chemo treatment for it since August of last year. It seems to be helping but the chemo does take a huge toll on my body.
I've had 3 back surgeries due to a fractured vertebrae. I've had a few other minor surgeries, but nothing to write home about.
I took a fall almost 2 years ago and my shoulder is finally fixed and at the end of the week I'll find out if they'll be fixing my knee.
I agree with Paws .. the mind has a miraculous capacity to cure .. it can be your own or with the help of another ... hence the healing touch too.
I takes great courage to confess and share somethings and these are some of them.Reading the posts makes me feel so little about cribbing for anything for that matter.
And Ken .. i have always admired you for being so comfortable and warm in the way you discuss your situation .. many cannot even talk to their family about it.

When life hands you lemons make lemonade
Learned from your dad to take it on the chin and keep on going, didn't you?

Wow Arlene, I am so sorry. That blood pressure is pretty high. That must be hard to deal with and lower it.

Have to go see Doc. this week for stronger meds. The Doc . nearly had a stroke herself. I keep forgetting about it all , I guess that is where the early dementia might come in. Thank you.

Thank you Riya. Funny, I feel more comfortable speaking about it out in public that one on one.
Thank you everyone who has posted so far. It does take courage to tell others about what you are going through. But I have learned alot so far and I appreciate everyone's candor and respect!!

Strange how the physical pain can be so agonising .. but if theres someone to talk to and care about you .. who feels for you .. how it seems lighter.

Thank you Ken...Though I don't look at it as being brave. I look at it as taking the bull by the horns these days. I know that there's nothing that I can't face head on and get through in life. There was a time when I used to hear that "God doesn't give us more than we can handle" and I would want to scream and say B.S.!...Today it's different, it's all a learning process and an experience to be able to have the ability to go through these things and learn from them and have the ability to help others that are just starting on a path that you've already been down before.
I won't say it's been easy, in fact it's been far from it...When I became willing to accept things for what they were instead of fighting and denying them , then the path became clear enough for me to see where I was going and then it got easier to walk along it.
I may stumble now and then, but I don't need to fall anymore. Even if I do fall I know how to pick myself up and dust myself off and start over again.
You're a courageous man Ken don't let anyone ever try to convince you otherwise, including yourself
