Further closures of auto plants here in canada. Recently closing a
plant that will effect 1000 people. Then the domino effect, manufacturing plants that make the parts. Contract had been signed
two weeks with the union and workers. Expected since the Ceo of GMC stated gas prices, trends that trucks aren't getting bought, and wages of workers outweigh the cost of purchasing the vechicle.

more closures to occur in us, mexico and canada.

Recession here we come, yes or no. What do you think. Are you secure in your job, I know I am not. How to cope with loss of job especially where you have been there for so long.

That is true, but people are not getting with the program, we are shifting. New trends, people have to realize that the shift is happening. Unfortunely some people don't want to see it, and then
BAM---it hits you, your job is gone where you have worked for years.

In this current economy having a job longer than a year is becoming
rather rare. People will adapt when they have too. But you are
right recession is coming nearer as more layoffs spread.

Soaring food prices bedevil consumers, but they're a boon for Cal-Maine (CALM) Foods, America's biggest egg producer. Even while paying more for feed, the Jackson (Miss.) company has been able to pass on the costs, and then some, by hiking egg prices about 40% since last year. "The economics have been good for us," says CEO Fred R. Adams Jr.

Recession has been around the corner for the longest time .The question is can the economy of each country cope with it.It seems many jobs disappear in the long run due to computerization and manpower saving technologies. On the other hand a huge amount of new jobs got new created within many different fields.Who would have thought years ago you could hire a dog walker, personal manager etc.Look at ET field .Computer programers,Computer analysts,Web designers,Internet Marketing experts and the list goes on and on.

It is up to each individual to grow within this new era of employment and take the necassary steps to become employable.Night classes, job advancement courses etc are offered thruout the world since this is a world phenomen.hug

I agree with you in what you say, But I also belive there is a lot more now going on that is hurting us and is causing all the difficulties we all are in.

The cost of oil, government spending, greed in the top levels. the average citizen now is having a hard time making ends meet. some just cant do it. The cost of gas to just get back and forth to work is taking a lot of the wages, that at one time was used to buy food, and pay for heat, Now that has all gone up too so you dont have as much as you once did to pay for these things.
and what you do have left, wont buy as much, so what is being consumed is down, so production has to go down, (layoffs) plants closing. Loss of jobs, means loss of more money, then it circles around again, and more out of work, even less money going into the economy. This has been happening for a while now. Yet people are now asking if we are going into a resession? What is resession folks? And what comes next? Depression? How much are people willing to go thru before they really will do something to help them selves, and each other? This country is supose to be run by it's people, not the rich who want to get richer at our expence, But it is going to take one very loud voice to get the message across!
Think about this, to even get into the rulers race you have to have a lot of money! When have you ever heard of a regular Joe being president? And when have you ever met a rich man that did ot want to get richer, or have more power?

Don't know whether to answer your first or second postlaugh tongue

I absolutely agree with you but I strongly believe the world market situation will improve again.A loud voice wouldn't help.Millions taking to the street would make a change and impact faster.Unfortunatelly lawmakers favor the rich and famous and I am not sure if this is ever going to change. Each of us need to adapt in more than one way. handshake

Yes, but while this is taking place ^ you have people who are normally making a decent wage struggling to put food on the table and a roof over their familys heads.

Remember the immigration reform of hard politics sending illegal immigrants right back.Hundreds of thousands took to the street and it was postponed even up to now still no decision was made.

Let us be heard in one voice loud and clear saying.

NO MORE FAVORISM TOWARDS THE RICH
NO MORE UNNECESSARY WARS IN ASIA
NO MORE PAY INCENTIVES FOR SUPER EARNERS
NO MORE TAXSHELTERS FOR THE SUPER RICH COMPANIES

Can anyone continue that list ?

I cant speak for Canada.... but here in the US we are simply paying for the reprocussions of cheaper goods that resulted from the pilfering of our factories, and moving those jobs out of the country... The end result is that those people in foreign countries, who recieved the benefit of the jobs those industries provided, have now upgraded their own standards of living, and are able to buy products that further strain the global supplies of raw materials....
So while we have been paying for below market value prices for food stuffs, textiles, etc etc... for a number of years, we are now having the backlash of the economic slingshot which came directly from this business/economic policy....
Now.... because of the additional cost of transporting those goods, everything comes full swing..... costs of goods are rising to what they should be, and we no longer have the industries to offset those rises in prices.... thus we have become vulnerable, and have ruined our own independence through global economic unilateralism.....and here in this country, helped build an empire for a family whose policies are to gobble up any healthy competition that stands in their way.....
So run out and buy those two dollar t-shirts and those 4 dollar sweatshirts before you lose out on what you essentially traded for in terms of 4 dollar a gallon gas...........
