dcj22: Maybe they just get to slow and tired to be as goofy as they used to be.

Will you ever slow down and not be as goofy as you are now??? Not that you are 'goofy' --- I mean, so terribly charming in a goofy sort of way....roll eyes tongue

Aries01: I think you learn via life's lessons, i.e. humility, poise, patience and discretion that kind of thing.. but you can still keep your youthful spirit.. my Mum is very young at heart and can be great fun.. but she is still dignified... I really like that about older people, the calmness of life experience...

Will you be like your mom when you are older?wave

princess49503: I don't think it's possible to generalize all older people.
Some of them do behave more mature and dignified but....

there's always the elders who are very immature and irresponsible ....

For example: I have a 60 year aunt who like to give me and my sisters marital advice and advice about men, when she herself had 2 failed marriages and hasn't been with a man in any respect for 25 years..

Good point...impossible to generalize anyone...just kind of wondering about the issue in general though...laugh thumbs up

That's okay. Goofy suits me. And yes, I slow down by the minute. I was in my 20's the first time a doctor told me a part of my body was that of a 75 year olds.

Of course, that doesn't make me dignified, just old. laugh

I think that grace, good manners and politeness start to happen long before we become "older".

For me, it has to do with how I was raised.

For others, I have no idea dunno

This is all interesting stuff, though not what i was thinking of when i started the thread...but as someone told me, threads have a life of their own.

What I was thinking of, I guess, is that as some people get older, they lose a certain spontaneity or silliness or something and act more like 'old' people....what do u all think???

Like others have said, people become more comfortable in their own skin. They don't need to "impress" anyone. Also, people change. I use to think I would never go a day without cranking up the music and singing along. Now I am happy sitting quietly doing a crossword puzzle.
