excuse me, smokey. how dare you accuse me of putting anyone down. That is totally out of order and I demand an immediate apology.

smoky: All the above made very interesting reading! ...... I got something to say now. Quiriman - some words of wisdom I gained a few years ago was this .... "You gotta practice now for how you want to be when you old - because ones ways get more radical and entrenched as the years go by, and no-one wants to end up a quarelsome narrow minded old git".

The way you arguing here with Flower, and sort of putting her down, sounds like you are rather fanatical about your gym? Tis not Everyone that needs structured excercise, some folk, especially the Enlightened ones are able to manage their bodies very well - and I do believe that the photographs of Flower prove this?! Also ..... sometimes it is not the outside of the body that tells the story .... its what is going on inside ... hence the heart-attacks that happen to some folk in their 30`s! or the cancer growths, and the other insidious illnesses that are on the increase.

And don`t knock dancing! It is one of the very best all-round excercises for the entire body - I know - I used to be a ballroom and latin competition dancer, and there is nothing to beat a few regular hours of dancing - it tones the whole body - muscular, skeletal and cardiovascular - and gives the body a sleek well proportioned shape - as well as being good for deportment.

Now, get back to practicing for your old age - there is nothing more appealing than a well-spoken debonair and charming Old Man!

Playing devil,s advovate here Q man, I think Smokey was talking about the general tone, which is always a prob with postings. I,m sure your advice was well intentioned and makes good sense, but I suppose when we get on our little hobby horse and start preaching even good things some people percieve that as a little putty downy kinda thing.

Now go blow each other a kiss.kiss

If Flower comes on to this forum and states I have been putting her down, then I will publicly apologise to her. That was not my intention and I find it spiteful to suggest otherwise.

Oops, So sorry I apologised to you! I see you are realy seriously serious now? and saying I`m being "spiteful"? Not spiteful, most definitely not... Was just trying to explain something to you that you seem to have no awareness of.

My dear Quiriman, you repeatedly referred to "dancing being a good excercise for Older ladies", as though over 40 means one is geriatric and restricted to this gentle form of walking to music, and in my experience, by referring like that it means a put-down. Also the "pushing prams around parks", and making derogatory remarks about the word "structured" likening it to the use of whips and strict nuns in a persons childhood, to which a person would now have to "defend" themselves and offer unwaranted self-explanations......

I took it on myself to verbally chastise you for your remarks to Flower, because I saw that she kept coming back in a nice polite manner to your replies, and she allowed you to overide her with your snide sounding comments. Yes, sorry, but they did sound superior and snidish, maybe not your intention, but they came across like that.

Smoky thank you, you read evrything just right, in the end I stopped feeling the need to justify myself .... as all it did was fuel the whole thing even more ... tryed to finish on a humorous note but even that got a reply I decided to ignore ...

Guiri I already asked you in one of my post why you needed to sound so "downputting and generalising" and you got even more defensive/downputting ... so lets clarify: the "health advice" you were giving made sense" BUT the way you needed to run down/put down one type of person or other in order to do so was not nice including the reference to "older ladies". And may I point out that your down putting comments were mostly directed at ladies, mothers included ...

smoky: You know those "Super Body" Hi-Tec Gyms? ... where you got to sign on for a minimum of 6 months, or get a discount for a years membership ....... AND IF YOU HAVE ....... Did you stick to the regime the instructor set for you? ... or did you give up?

How long did you last going minimum 3 times a week? and if you did give up , WHY DID YOU GIVE UP?

If you did not give up ...... WHY NOT?

2 years ago when I was still walking over an hour a day and dancing and trying to horse-ride, I decided I needed to be more fit in order to dance and ride better so I decided to take advantage of an offer at the local gym.

150 euros for a years membership - Bargain!!!!!!

Went twice - couldn't stand the smell, the crowd, the EXERCISES, the rude, obnoxious people who refused to respect the half hour maximum time on the treadmill, SHOWERING, CHANGING - goddam uncivilised joints if you asked me.....

So like I said - went twice - cost me 75 euros a session - Bargain???? sigh

JMOPE (just my own pathetic experience) or....... J-MOPE moping

guiriman: That's the problem I think. That's why you feel the need to criticise even my most irrefutable truths. You correctly perceive me as a superior being and it brings out the rebel in you,

Just kidding. But really, could I get any looser do you think?

I think you are right. I don't know what's gotten into me lately. must be all this darn heat I'm feeling. First year in this Italian sunshine has gone to my head probably.

Anyway, Flower, I'm really sorry that I got a bit carried away with some of my posts earlier. It wasn't my intention to be abusive, honest. I gotta learn to write here on the forum so it reflects more what I am trying to say. And also reflects ore the tone in which I'm intending it to sound. If you, and everyone else, will be a little patient with me please, I'll try my hardest to do that. hug
