I just joined this site today. I found it on Google while looking for a dating site that offered free e-mail. Seems a lot of sites make you pay to actually contact people, which I thought was unreasonable. It's really expensive, too, and I didn't think it was fair to pay for a service that isn't even a guarantee.
The first thing that drew me in was that this site was free, and the forums piqued my curiosity. This is the first site of its kind I've ever seen that actually has community interaction on a deep level, where we can share something of ourselves through day-to-day conversations. What a brilliant idea.
I've taken a look at some of the threads, but since I don't really know anyone yet, I'm not too comfortable giving any thoughts on the interesting ones I found. Hopefully, this thread will change that.
The other thing that drew me to the site was the strict moderation of public areas and the approval of profiles. I like that there are rules here and that people are screened as best as possible. This site has standards and earned my respect for being clear from the start about the kind of content it wants to host.
I tried to be thorough when completing my profile, so no sense repeating what's already there. I'm not asking for ratings or anything, just mentioning that there's more info there if anyone cares to look. Here's hoping I've made a good first impression, and I hope to get to know the regulars better over time.

Hey! Welcome to the board! I'm from Jersey, but spent some time in Hawaii back in the 80's. Kanehoe MCAS. Great place to be! Loved hanging out at the Waikiki Broiler and the underwater bar!! Hope you find what you are looking for here: there are some fun folks and its a great little community. Enjoy!
Thank you all again for the welcomes. I wasn't expecting to get any responses and I've already gotten several. This really is a kind community. I've been sitting here for hours just reading the forums. I'm utterly enthralled at being drawn in this way. Who needs the old approach of sifting through ads when regular log-ins are so easily encouraged by this place? I'm really enjoying this novel strategy.
CS get-togethers? Sounds expensive and rather scary. Haha. I'm still boggling about the fact that I'm supposedly looking for dates but am spending more time in the forums. I'm wondering why I haven't heard about this place until now. Very interesting how people end up somewhere at the same time and get connected by a common interest like this.
You were here for a year already? Wow, this place must really have staying power.
The only thing I wish this forum had was an Edit button for posts. It goes against all my forum etiquette training to double-post.
I met my lovely wife here and several others have found matches here as well. (Unfortunately, some have also "met their match," but it's all in fun! )
Oh, that's great to hear. Must be neat to have shared memories and to still be able to chat here even if one isn't single anymore. I guess you're the first actual testimonial I've talked to, which has a bit more impact than the site comments, even though those drew me in as well as the forums and rules.
Come on in and enjoy the fun. I have made some really good friends on this site. I also met the one I love here too...so it does work!!!!!! Mark (Grizz73) and I are still doing great...just can't wait until he gets here....time is dragging....lol.

Yeah I miss those too.. Another forum I used to use allowed to edit for 5 minutes before it 'locked' it.
