Why do we have to bear this mascarade ? They chose China for political reasons, thinking they were very clever and powerful, and would be able to turn them into a democratic country. What fools ! Chinese are the strongest ones and now we just bend in front of them, obeying to their desires.
Journalists who are there to attend the different games are trapped. They don't have a free access to the many existing sources to be able to do their job properly. We'll be overwhelmed during the games by beautiful, sweet, pink "suggestions" about life in China. I call it a globalizing dictature. They're very smart !
So, what can we do ? We all have the power not to turn on our TVs and criticize those stupid and non reliable Olympic games. Internet is a wonderful mean to spread all kinds of ideas, so let's use it in a clever way and help those people who still suffer from their political governments.
meliana: I understand you and it's a pity our athletes will have to participate in such conditions. It reminds me of the Olympic games in 32 in Berlin.
If no one ever says anything....
Those Games in Berlin happened more like in 1936!!!!!!!!
Sheeeeesh, get the Fact straight,Lady,if you wanna stir the Pot!
China is another step towards global democracy, and a democratic society isn't born overnight. China seems to be headed in a much better direction now than they were. So I wouldn't say that free eneterprise is a bad thing for China. It is bad for we Americans that are losing our jobs, because greedy American companies are moving there.
The reason you may limit access to reporters may be because of hieghtened security, and as far as bending at knee. I bow before no one.
I may not want to live in China, but they have a deep rooted culture with good values. It is a place I would love to visit. As for France...I've flown over ,around, under and anyway I could just so I wouldn't set foot on it. No offense to you...Your history speaks for itself. The only place that would be truly an honor to stand in France are the beaches at Normandy where so many allied soldiers died...FOR YOU??? Ask a German if they would rather be living under a dictatorship or a democracy?
Democracy takes time...As for the Olympics...I can take them or leave them.Remember... It is not if you win or lose...It's how you play the game.
