shipoker55: Personally, I think yes!! Rock is alive and thriving. But I believe rock and roll has died, it may refuse to lay down, but it is dead!!
If you agree with this, what do you think of as the last great R&R act?? I believe R&R died with Creedence Clearwater Revival!! Just my opinion( and the only one that matters to me..LOL)

I've still got my CCR 33 1/3 and CD. I liked a lot of the old stuff...and still play it. Hell, I didn't think Tommy James was all that bad...

Ship, good topic,,like bell bottoms, platform shoes, endless list, goes on,,,, Rock & Roll will never die. Fads just fade but never go away completely. My personal op. is that R&R will return bigger and better.
R&R is dead in the same way that Homo Erectus is dead but the Human race is still alive and kicking. R&R has evolved into something new. The days of "Johnny be Good" or "Rock Around the Clock" may be gone but Rockin music is still being made and enjoyed. There have been mis-steps along the way, Disco for example, but the R&R DNA is still alive and kicken it.
BTW, IMO the EPITOME of a Rock & Roll song is one that few people have ever even heard. It's called "CA PLANE POUR MOI" by Plastic Bertrand. From 1977. Anybody ever heard it?

Rock and Roll will never die, it will just live on as "oldies" On the same subject, does anybody but me think that Rick Nelson was under-rated?
