well i couldnt live without my washing machine or cd player!!!! but i could do without the fridge, freezer, mirowave, hoover, hairdryer, hair-straighteners and TV......

I recently spent two winters living in a 10X14 "cookhouse" with no running water, a wood stove for heat and cooking, using candle lanterns for lighting and the outhouse was 40 yards away. I have yet to find a modern appliance that I couldn't live without in a pinch.

I have a tiny gas one flame stove and wind up torches for when the electricity goes off.
I have hand washed when machine broken and have a small tub which you wind the handle like an old butter churn.
I suppose it would be the fridge freezer for me too, in winter you could keep a few items outside, but the thought of shopping every day for what you need seems too much!

I could do without my microwave... all the rest are a must, definately a must. Can't imagine myself without a washing machine... ok for a couple of days but other than that....sheesh
