BnaturAl: no, I need to hear accountability.
Yes, I think I agree with that. The apology wouldn't be so much for me, as the person concerned. Its the grown-up, mature, AND gracious thing to do. I would have much more respect for someone taking account of any wrong-doings than otherwise.....

alabamabebe: Yep, you can say it all day long, unless you change and take responsibility for what you've done it means nothing.
Being accountable for something you have done is one thing, and requires an apology in my book, if there was an intention or will to hurt, for instance if you were just having a bad day and didn't care who you took it out on, or had a grudge against someone.
But being responsible for how someone interprets and feels about what you have done, is another thing altogether.
We are not, and should not, feel responsible for another's feelings. They arrived at those all on their own, through their own thinking and interpretaton, often by misinterpreting someone's intentions.
fireliter: when someone regrets what they have done or said to or about you, and you know they regret their actions... do you need still need to hear an apology?
If you knew the person well enough in the first place, you would have your answer to that, because you would know if they were sincere or not.
rwantin: The words help, but forgiveness can be implied - both in offered and acceptance forms.
Good morning my friend, how is your father today? Is he better? I have had thoughts of looking in on him and saying hello, but I don't know what his name is and I don't know how it would be recieved, coming in as a stranger!
