Our church was built in the 13th century. It's mentioned in the Domesday Book too.
I was just thinking.. It is Church of England.. but a few times a week it 'Lends' itself to the Catholics..
My grandfather (a FULL ON Catholic).. would attend on those few times a week here.. but the rest of the week wouldn't even walk past it..
I think thats funny.. surely?.. a church is a church? really.. He wouldn't even go in when there was no one there..

Ambrose2007: Do you think it's possible to be a Christian without believing in the divinity of Christ? (Anyone is welcome to respond.)
No, I do not believe this. When it comes to the scriptures you believe all or burn the book. It is His devinity that made Him be able to lay down His life so others could be saved. He is the only one who has made this claim, no one else. If we had no Bible but only one scripture it would be enough to have; John 3-16 For God soo loved the world,(You)that He gave......
hollandgirl: I have seen this too non Christians being kinder then the Christians. I am sure your laughing, he that is healthy so go ahead, When your a Christian, Satan hates you and does all he can to make your life miserable and make you look bad to non Christians, it takes strenght to stand up against this.
See, there's the difference between a Christian and a Pagan...I don't believe that Satan exists...he was created by the Crusaders back in the 600's (no, the year is not a typo) in order to help convert the Pagans by making them believe that their gods were evil. Nobody hates me, and if any part of my life is miserable that is my own doing and I can choose to change it.
I also don't believe that anyone died to save my soul. I am responsible for all that I do and it is up to me to learn the soul lessons that I chose when I came in as a human on earth-school this time around. Those are my beliefs...and just a statement, not an argument, btw. I'm not trying to convert anyone, nor bash anyone. You have a right to your beliefs, and I have a right to mine...and that's the only "right" that I claim exists in any religion.
Ambrose2007: Do you think it's possible to be a Christian without believing in the divinity of Christ? (Anyone is welcome to respond.)
No, not in the traditional sense. Believing in the decision made in Nicea by Constantine, that Christ was divine, is a core Christian belief of most paths within that faith.
However, it fits with the Gnostic Christians who still practice the original Christian faith today and acknowledge that the "Holy Grail" was Mary Magdalene, Christ's wife, who bore their daughter in France after his crucifixion. There is much information coming to light now about all of this after centuries of it being buried by the Catholic Church. (Btw, there are Catholic priests and nuns who are actually Pagans and practice that faith in private...something I find interesting.)

Probably not but you can choose to behave in a Christian manner, modelling your life on the words of Christ. That would immediately differentiate you from most people who call themselves "Christians"
They are in the Club and they talk the talk you, on the other hand, would walk the walk.

If I may, I will share with you something that happened at my Bible study at my home.
It will have to wait as I have to do volunteer work this morning. I did not sleep, (I tried) this whole night but was on this computer. I have tonight a dinner invitation so......... But I am sure it can wait. Okay?

Sure, share away. Just don't try to convert me, please. It's a waste of time. I spent 40 years in Christian churches and never bought the story then, so not going to now. In return I promise not to try to convert you. I've heard many stories from many religions, dear. They're all the same. God works in mysterious ways and is known by many names...that's covered in the bible too.
Btw, I do welcome those stories from all religions. It is a favorite past time of mine, so I wasn't being fascetious when I said to share away. I meant it.

I know which I would prefer!
I prefer being a Dionysian. Much less walking and talking involved.

Where are those curse words, please show me. The only one I know is damn and damn if I remember where I can find it. I heard a preacher use this in church on time. He got attention alright it looked like no one else know it was there either. Yep the preacher told it is in the Bible. ???

I had intended to show you what happened at one of my Bible studies but it sounds like you have your mind made up so no need for me to tell it anymore. Am I right? Yes we all where given free will so yes, you can believe what ever you want to.
Lol, no one is going to be forced into Heaven kicking and screaming. The Bible does say; work out your own salvation in fear and trembling. No you do NOT have to go to Heaven.

Since I don't believe in heaven, nobody can go there by choice or by force, lol. I never bought any of the Christian beliefs in 40 years of going to church...no, I'm not going to change my mind now. I have studied the history of the "Church", and with that knowledge call it for the hypocrisy it is. Not those who truly believe...just the Church itself. Part of what I disagree with is anyone who says it must be done with fear and trembling, btw. Sheesh. Sorry, but that's just not my picture of God, nor of Christ's teachings.
Now, Christ's true teachings of love, peace and tolerance...that's another story. He is one of the great Ascended Masters...right up there with Buddha and Kwan Yin.
hollandgirl: When I say “I am a Christian I’m not shouting “I’m clean living,” I am whispering, I was lost, and now I am found and forgiven. When I say “I am a Christian I don’t speak with pride, I am confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide. When I say I am a Christian I am not trying to be strong. I’m professing that I am weak and need His strength to carry on. When I say I am a Christian I am not bragging of success. I am admitting I have failed need the Lord to clean my mess. When I say I am a Christian I am not claiming to be perfect, my flaws are far too visible but God believes I am worth it. When I say I am a Christian I am not holier than thou I’m just a simple sinner who received God’s good grace somehow.
Sweet sister, wouldn t it be easier to be responsible of our acts, admitting when we fail and clean our own mess, so Creator has time for more important matters? His love is so deep we are forgiven, His pacience is so huge when we comitt same mistake again and the beauty He created is so marvellous...who are we to destroy or to critize it???? If everybody would work inside of them to win over their own negativities, instead of looking at their neighbour´s, learning how to share instead of competition, to give instead of taking....life could be like Creator created it....and I am no christian nor willing to be. For me it is enough to follow my native heart and keep on living in God´s blessings. May all your days be blessed with warm love, deep peace, much joy and beauty on your path

Hi sweet sister, I respect your beliefs whole heartedly. Wishing you too; Peace, harmony and joy. My Blessings to you.
Years ago at the end of the day; A native man in full headgear, sitting on a white horse, would say; The Lord's Prayer" Never seen anything more beautiful.
