Alan_50501fort dodge, Iowa USA46 Threads 336 Postsok this is my first time doing internet relationships.. im talking to someone shes up to relocating to my state, money is tight for the both of us..her lease is up in april next year.. has anyone here went to meet someone or did he/she just said they was gonna move to your state?? and start a relationship that way..we talk on the computer alot and just started calling each other and talking for god knows how long..lol i have seen pictures of her and shes seen them of me.. i thought about seeing if i could save the money and fly to her for christmas or thanksgiving depend on if i can save the money to fly..id have to fly it would cost my truck too much in gas.. v8 4x4 she only lives like 7 or 8 hrs from me... id like to hear some opinions and ideas on what you have done to meet someone....

Hi, since you asked, i'll be honest. If you find it too costly to go the first time, don't you think it's unrealistic to even begin the long distance relationship? What happens the second, third, or fourth time, you two have to meet?
About moving to be with each other ( i presume forever), don't you think it's a bit too soon to even think of that?

Well, I am going to be very British about this.
Plan and save the money, get a fixed date and plan for that.
Do not think about April next year, Christmas is a good goal, you should plan for that time.
If it is meant to be then it will not go by you...

Me, personally, I wouldn't be making any definitive plans as such until after that meet-up. I couldn't possibly make future commitments without meeting someone first. A connection over the airwaves or telephone is one thing, the rest is quite another.......
Quite often, if one has been on there own for some time, devoid of love and affection, and craving companionship, it can cloud one's otherwise rational judgements....??

No guy. When I first joined CS, I was interested in a woman from New Hampshire. A very nice lady. But I realized that Being in Florida and on a fixed income, I wouldn't be able to travel to see her. She has a great job where she lives and would be silly to give that up for me. So, I walked away from it.
If the same thing were to happen again, I would react the same way. I am a realist that way. But I have given up trying to find a partner,but would only date if they were very local

Talking from personal experience... meet face to face at least once before deciding anything.... I met someone on another site and spend 2 months talking to him... we exchanged photos, had amazing phone conversations lasting 3 hours and still had a hard time saying good bye. On paper he was my ideal mate and when I met him he was exactly what and who he portrayed himself to be, but there was no chemistry between us... that special zing was no where in evidence. I spent a lovely weekend with him and said goodbye.
