I am not religious, but as recent events have unfolded; Pakistan bombing, Wall St., swindle, losing the so-called war in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US threatening Russia, Climate change, Avian flu, etc. I am going to read up on the Biblical Apocalypse, it seems that it is at hand, whether by coincidence or divine providence.

Hell on earth caused by us....you betcha...

We have met the enemy, and they are us.

A correct application of the law of karma is the only thing that will save the world.

Forget the Bible. The Rissho Onkoku Ron:

"When the teachings of the Buddha truly become obscured and lost, then people will all let their beards, hair and fingernails grow long, and the laws of the world will be forgotten and ignored. At that time, loud noises will sound in the air and the earth will shake; everything in the world will begin to move as though it were a waterwheel. City walls will split and tumble, and all houses and dwellings will collapse. Roots, branches, leaves, petals and fruits will lose their medicinal properties. With the exception of the heavens of purity, all the regions of the world of desire will become deprived of the seven flavors and the three kinds of vitality, until not a trace of them remains any more. All the good discourses that lead people to emancipation will at this time disappear. The flowers and fruits that grow in the earth will become few and will lose their flavor and sweetness. The wells, springs and ponds will all go dry, the land everywhere will turn brackish and will crack open and warp into hillocks and gullies. All the mountains will be swept by fire and the heavenly beings and dragons will no longer send down rain. The seedlings of the crops will all wither and die, all the living plants will perish, and even the weeds will cease to grow any more. Dust will rain down until all is darkness and the sun and the moon no longer shed their light.

"All the four directions will be afflicted by drought, and evil omens will appear again and again. The ten evil acts will increase greatly, particularly greed, anger and stupidity, and people will think no more of their fathers and mothers than does the roe deer. Living beings will decline in numbers, in longevity, physical strength, dignity and enjoyment. They will become estranged from the delights of the human and heavenly realms and all will fall into the paths of evil. The wicked rulers and monks who perform these ten evil acts will curse and destroy my correct teaching and make it difficult for those in the human and heavenly realms to stay there. At that time the benevolent deities and heavenly kings, who would ordinarily take pity on living beings, will abandon this impure and evil nation and all will make their way to other regions."

Galactic, I got lost in there somewhere, now I must go back in and find myself. I am not saying this as a joke. That is extremely deep reading and needs to be read again and again to feed the brain with the knowledgs that it has waiting for us to discover. We don't have to agree, but the material alone kept me fixated until I thought, wake up and read the rest. Sometimes we get so bogged down with THINGS that we forget to get into the here and now and replenish our brains. Just my 2 cents worth, whatever that means.(LOL)

This is only a portion of the Treatise. It goes on to talk about foreign invasion by barbarians, and lots of other stuff, written in the 12th century, that is just as relevant now. Any time an Empire does not balance it's actions with right-intent, it creates a Karmic imbalance that affects all 3000 worlds of human existence (I'm not even going to get into the doctrine of Ichinen Sanzen at this point, lol) and everything from the environment to the hearts within us become poisoned with the three evils he spoke about in this passage: greed, anger and stupidity.

I have chatted several times with my best friend in Australia since my break - up 4 months ago. I truly am from the old school of not giving up until you see no more light at the end of the tunnel, only darkness. As many of my ex's friends and enemies would call and tell me the things he was doing before I was even gone 3 hours, I too let anger take over. I was so hurt that I wanted to hurt back even more. But my friend said, Linda, if you play on your anger then he is getting exactly what he wants. Just set back, clear your mind, meditate on happy thoughts and don't give him another thought. We have become a very angry and greedy society. Not quite sure what my feelings are on the stupidity, as that would take me on the political trail and open another can of worms.

Why do people who don't even believe in the Bible want to study this stuff? FWIW, the word apocalypse does not even appear in the Bible. There have been over the years so many different interpretations of the revelations, depending on whatever was happening at the time, there is no way to really know what's going to happen till it does. I'm ready no matter what it is, don't really need to know.
