OK, this is a serious question. And since I am very new here, I am quite hesitant to ask this. But...

About 2 hours ago, on another site a young lady initiated contact with me. In checking out her profile, she is VERY pretty and like me, in terrific shape and a non-smoker. We seem to share a lot of common interests. She lives only about 20 minutes from me.
Sounds great so far, right ?

Here's the issue. She's younger, than the age range I set for ideal.
My question is this; I am 43 and will be 44 in December.
What do YOU think is the youngest woman a man of my age should date ? Don't get gross. I assure you she is an adult.

Since I love humor, you can feel free to joke if you like, but I am also interested in your honest opinion. I mean the ultimate decision is mine, but I am at least open to advice. I did reply to her, as I do with ALL people who initiate contact (except obvious scammers).
I personally think it is rude not to respond.

Regardless, what do you think is the lowest age of a woman a 43 /44 year old guy should date ?
dunno

Personally anyone young enough to be my child, or old
enough to be my parent is not comfortable for me.
And as to grandchild or grandparent age difference,
just not right at all.

Saying that I dated a guy 14 years younger, but
can't imagine doing it again.

Thanks for replying. So, you think 20 years difference, or 14 years difference, or what ? I mean, this is with you having a child at what age ? 20 ? 21 ?

if you are comfortable with the age difference and so is she, what does it matter what others think?

Well, the whole point is that I'm not all that comfortable with our age difference (which I haven't identified) and I wanted to see if I was too stringent with my age range that I set. I wanted to see what the consensus was.

FOR ME 20 year gap is way too much,

but each to their own,

it is whatever the two parties concerned are comfortable with.

good luck.....wave

Then if you are not comfortable, don't go with it, it really is up to you ,and not what others think

Whatever you set for yourself is your comfort zone
and is right for you, stick to it.

no one is right or wrong, it's all just a personal feeling.

I realize it is up to me. Indeed, I stated that in my opening statement.
Nonetheless, I am INTERESTED in what others feel about this issue.
I'm not asking people to tell me what to do. I will do whatever I see fit. However, I am interested in what others feel is appropriate for themselves and I DO respect what others have to say, especially a consensus.

I have to quantify should first...sorry it's a thing.

As long as it's between two consenting adults, where age is conserned, there is not an issue of right and wrong.

That said...

At 43/44 I'd be hesitant to date someone under 35.

Myself being 38, anyone under 30...would give me pause.

Personally, I don't think it matters. You of course must be very careful because in many cases a big age difference is simply illogical in that the life experiences of the two individuals is so varied. On the other hand, I know my mom and step-dad were 17 yrs apart, and they had the best relationship i have ever witnessed. It's just another "take it slow" thing.confused

Really it depends on what you're comfortable with. Take things really slow and pay close attention to how well you really get along on the emotional/mental level. Keep in mind too that the younger you go the more you're going to want to tear your hair out. I'm only 32 and I've never dated anyone more than 9 years younger than me and I've found that more than 5 years my junior ever really works. There's just nothing in common and not enough stimulating conversation outside the bedroom.

Just take things slow and see how you feel about it after you have a chance to get to know the person. Give yourself the time to know them.

Hey Jim...wave

Two women I met and dated from CS were 11 years younger, and 10 years younger than me.

Age had nothing to do with our getting together. It was the chemistry we developed. Good luck to you...handshake

Maturity is also important. I personally don't go out with guys over 100, they are too mature for me. grin
