Straight up question lagoona...how long does a design remain 'copy righted'....or another way if you change the design slightly does the orginal artist still have copy-right...

Not sure...but I would imagine that if you have copied a design, and made some changes, but the similarity is still there and the original spirit is recognisable, you can be sued..

Country dependent.

Generally two methods are used: The artist or creators lifetime plus a period of 50-75 years OR a total time span 100-125 years.

Rigid enough, but only protected in the country where you registered it. You want Coca Cola Company registered? Call me...

Sorry, fooling around to fast with the mouse.

A patented design can be improved upon but will then need new patent approval. A painting can not be approved upon and if there is a clear distinc sense of "copied work" you can be sued.

But you can always claim that you are influensed by that artist.

Recommendation when it is too similar is to contact the artist or the owner of the copyright.

:footinmouth: You got me there. EU do also protect echother to a certain degree. When was the original created? Was that country member then?

Or better, if I knew the two countries I could tell you in detail in a few minutes.

Well, in this case it still falls under the Crown.

"the Copyright, etc. and Trade Marks (Offences and Enforcement) Act 2002" sais in 7.(4) Quote: "This Act extends to Northern Ireland."

In other words, UK copyright act originating from 1956 is the one to read.

That act has been revised a number of time including to reflect the current EU situation but also to cover some protection in all of the Commonwealth.

What is the other country / state? France?
