I sense a growing feeling among the masses that they are getting very tired of politicians attacking each other at a time when we are in the most serious economic crisis facing not just the U.S. but the whole world. It's a sad case that we find ourselves thinking that a recession would actually be good news when we are facing a depression.
I have a very good friend who lives down the road from me. She is a Republican and will vote for John McCain, I'm a Democrat and I will vote for Barack Oboma. This fact alone is what defines the problem with our political system since the birth of our nation. From the very beginning we divided ourselves into a "Party System". Left vs Right, not to mention North vs South, East vs West, black vs white, rich vs poor. That pearl of wisdom that states "United we Stand, Divided we Fall" seems to have been lost on our fourfathers. What unites me & my friend is, we are both Americans who love our country, we feel it when our young people come home in a body bag or missing limbs. We don't wonder if that person was a Democrat or a Republican.
We both want our leaders to work together to solve problems instead of fighting like a bunch of school children. We both work hard, pay our taxes and obey the laws of the land. We wouldn't even think of calling each other names or insulting or demeaning each other. Yet on a daily basis we are exposed to the dirty fighting going on by the people we hold to the highest standards of behavior but who fail by resorting to the lowest form of competition.
You think we should let them take us down without a FIGHT?
We are already down. We are owned, lock, stock, and barrel by big business. We didn't fight when we had a chance. And now it is too late. Just read the posts of the right wing in these forums. They feel it is alright to subjagate(SP) people who do not go along with their programs. America ha sold out to big business and oil. And the people with the money...right wings will never give up their power over the little man. They are insignificant, in our society.
You know the old saying, the rich get richer......... and the poor gets stepped on by Congress! It's to make sure the poor don't become rich snd take away some of their ill-begotten money. America has sold out and will never again be a government "by the people"
Proof of all this is all the bail outs this week by washington. Using tax-payers money to float big business. In my economy of thinking, if you have a business and it fails...you are SOL. If it were a small business, who cares? But big business has too many friends in Washington, and even as we speak, are trying to put one of them in the White House to secure their financial future.

somechick: I haven't really gotten into the political arena/issues much but I feel the need to state my opinion here.
I feel the issues are what are important and will never go away, no matter who ends up being president. We should judge a candidate by how he/she plans to solve issues facing the nation, not by his/her sincerity or attempting to gauge how American he/she is.We are a sharpely divided country both politically and socially, because we have chosen to frustratingly call each other this terrible 10 letter word,"Un-American",often filling it with gunpowder by accusing one another of "aiding" terrorists through legitmate critizing of the Bush Administration's stratagy in the war on terrorism and justification for invading Iraq.
We've called each other misguided, ignorant, uncaring, cowardly, but most importantly "Un-American".In short, calling another citizen un-american in this day takes many forms, yet always packs the same devastingand nearly always untrue charge, which only serves to seperate us with lies and imaginary barriers.
JMHO
I agree...and it should be the real issues that candidates want to examine...not mudslinging crap...they should be playing on what they can do for the country...NOT what the other candidate might not do for mudslinging reasons....the best person for the job of president shouldn't be the best mudslinger...only if that's what you want slung back at you as American people...a President full of B.S.
Someone aked me today if I thought Rebublicans and Democrats could/would/will ever live in harmony with out negative ads and mudslining?
As far as I knew t hey never have, but it's the degree of negativity and mudslinging that bothers me. It's getting worse all the time. They also blame each other for doing it when they both do it. The other thing is, we all know that alot of what is said are half truths(yes, someone voted against a certain bill that would help children, the elderly, or some other group of victims, but they don't tell you that there was something in the bill that didn't belong in it or there was a bill that was more favorable to them). They are counting on the fact that many people are just too busy to do the research that would reveal the truth. This is just another reason that the federal government shouldn't be so big. They should focus on what they are constitutionally empowered to do(Notional defense, interstate commerce, post offices, postal roads etc) and leave other matters to "the states respectively or to the people".

I agree with you too. It's also all about head/mind games they play too.
