RadioheadFan123: Sometimes I think I am trying too hard to find that special someone. My friend tells me I should just stop looking and wait for that someone to show up. I don't mean to totally disregard what my friend says. I'm just too impatient to do that. Besides I think I might have some hope. I started talking to this girl and maybe she's interested in me. She started a conversation with me and that says something. You know? I mean I just got to know her and it's not like I'm going to ask her out right away.
This may sound weird to compare myself to this character in this movie. Have any of you seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? In some ways I can relate to the character Joel and how he says if a woman says "hi" to him that he thinks she might be interested in him. Maybe a lot of guys are like that.

That´s not so weird... I think a lot of guys your age feel the same way. What I will say is that you are 19 years old and you have not fully become the person you are going to be. To look for that special someone right now... well she would be ok for right now but you both would be doing a lot of changing and growing in the next few years and it´s very likely that you would grow in different ways and in different directions.
By all means try out dating and relationships... this is how we learn. But the most important thing for you to do at this stage of your life is to pursue your goals and dreams... and then the people and girls that you meet will at least have common interests. This time of your life is for you, you get to be a little bit selfish and pursue what matters to you, without having to take another persons wishes into consideration. Take advantage of it... because when that special someone does come along, life becomes about commitment and compromise and while the end result, a loving relationship is well worth it.... the time for you isn´t now. Enjoy being 19 and all the freedom you have... plenty of time for the rest later!
