Seabiscuit: First time I ever used it I took to it easily... Next time I used it however.. Frustrated to tears almost!

Yer I totally agree, and every time they bring out a new version it just makes it harder to use, I gave up and now use open source equivalent, straight forward and the online help is just the best

thumbs up

trish123: Mastering photoshop is an art in itself Mike but well worth persisting if you want people to see your stuff - it sort of puts it all into one place instead of having to follow seperate links - if you like I will do the thread for you a bit later on when I have more time?

Hi Trish,
Thanks but its PHOTOBUCKET and Compucrap jargon I got and get my knickers in a knot about.

The google prats said my name was invalid and would not allow me in twice but - I MIGHT try again and see what happens.

It's easy to copy each link to a word Doc and shufti at their leisure if anyone is sufficiently interested in what I do.

lorax111: A photagrapher , there are a lot of exciting things happening in photagraphy these days. Some are unsettling to the stoic but many are pleasing to the public. The art of photagraphy upset the realist in the last turn of the century now photagraphy is turned upside down with the options of digital malipulation in this century. What do you think?

I am new to exploring photagraphy but there has never been a part of my life that did not involve art. Dennis

Hi Dennis, Surprised to see so many replies to this thread!!!!!!!
What you say is all true, It did upset the realist at the turn of the century, what once took weeks, months now just took a fraction of the time and cost, and was open to all not just the rich, so no surprises there.

Digital Photography, good and bad points.

Well good it's out there for all to enjoy, select automatic and away you go plus you can see at a glance what you have.....But it has a long way to go yet to catch up with 35mm slr for speed and quality, more so for black and white shots which i prefer, good depth being just one aspect, good point for slr digital i can go out for the day and take up to 500 shots with no hassle of changing film and to no cost to me at the end of the day.

Now as for it being art, some say yes, and some say no, i still know some artists that say it's not art, ha....closed minds not a good thing if your an artists...i think you will agree!!!!!!but if you say the word art...what do people think, well just look at the reply you got from Trish.....first line.....I'm hopeless at panting and drawing....and that's it...say the word art and people think of drawing, panting or sculpture....not so...art takes many forms to many to list.......as for my photography when i see something that catches my eye i set about tackling it photographically i enjoy the challenge of photographing thing's that people tend to leave unnoticed especially detailed objects that hold the imagination and demand thinking time...not so for commercial photography, portraiture, weddings and various crap like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for what i'm doing now ....well i'm working with an artist friend been friends from about the age of 12.....we are doing a sculpture for a place in Durham.....he explores spatial relationships using geometry creating images and constructions that are mathematically and intuitively generated which seek to explore the concepts of elegance, symmetry and beauty... all good stuff i'm really enjoying it.

Well this is making me feel like i'm back at uni.....ha didn't like dissecting what you did or why you did it....i leave that to people that do...it's not my bag.

I'm on the forums to enjoy the nice people here..and like the funny thing's people post best of all...........it's good to laugh and just chill......so i'm going to set fire to a big one now and maybe give my guitar a good thrashing after that laugh

So you take care chill and enjoy............wave

Hi Trish keep up the good work

mike1937: If that is telling me off - YOU are NOT a moderator

I haven't a clue what you are talking about when you mention photobuckets, codes, hyperlinking etcetc

I did not intentionally contravene 1 in the rules.
I did NOT mention anything other than my own effort which I asked if it was within the context of this thread !!

No not telling you off but suggesting you add a photo like i'm hoping i'm doing right now and heck it appears to not work unless this is a photo thread ,,, son of mother,,,, . Well i'm not lazy and checked out your images ,,, nice for a non geek (LOL,,, and that is a compliment).
I have an image in que so i'm going to post it in a new thread, there are not enough art threads on this site.

I'm surprised there are not other art threads, I have allways surounded myself with artist so not seeing them here makes me feel like i'm in some sort of barren waistland.
Doing a project with another artist can be quite fun and educational ,,, well as long as there is respect.
The camera did change art but so did Sigmund Freud. I love Freuds contribution and the camera/digital.
It's late and i'll not carry on.

trish123: you are right - thats exactly what I meant - photobucket - wasnt thinking straight not tried photoshop for about 3 yrs cos it did my head in so much, have been meaning to get back and have a look though for ages - one of these days hahaha................

I try to keep up with photoshop, it is amasing what can be done there. I purchased a book on using it and was amased on what i could do. I first got photoshop and figured that if i play around i'll figureout the program but the book helped tremendersly(sp) and kinda still helps with the new versions. The toutorials on the disk are helpfull also but a good book is very helpfull along with the toutorials.
I have also heard good things about painter with a wacom pad.

Yeah, the Uk forums do often have the atmosphere of a barren wasteland. Especially when we're all at work or sleep

Plus, it rains a lot in the Uk forums which adds to the barrenlike atmosphere heart wings
