I am talking specifically about teenagers, dating older men/women. This isn't about me, a 26 year old. Don't make it about me, because it's not. You know what, i don't even want to talk about me.
I don't care what anyone thinks about me, or who i date.
I care about the children, those who have not had a chance to form some sort of direction in their lives, those who have no idea what being independent is all about, and those who have not been given a chance to see, learn, and evaluate situations around them as 'adults', in order to bulid their own foundation in this world, for themselves. First things first!

Generally yes older=more life experience...keyword i used "perhaps"...meaning that there are exceptions out there...and yes i have met such people personally...

And I am with you, on caring about the children, I have many under my care and supervision... So I understand that, I deal with all their relationship issues, along with their education, so this is a subject that fascinates me.
I guide and form (I like that word, thank you) direction, it is my job and I care...
So if one of my 18 year old students or even my own daughter came to me and was engaing with a man say is his 30's I would not dismiss it purely as him being too old...
There are many 30 something old men that would be great partners, for some 18 year old girls, and there are some 18 year old girls that could put me to shame with knowledge and intelligence, I learn from them.
None of this was about you, it was a discussion and a question. That is all.

My last partner was 11 years older than me..
So when he was 16 I was 5.
But as an adult it was acceptable, it is hard to blanket this subject with a yes or no view and criticise a person who chooses age...
I choose not to be with an 18 year old, because of the reasons I discussed, whether I want to or not is not the issue, it means that I would not...

A mature 18 year old who possesses a sense of independence, but with no real experience to accompany it , dating a much older adult, would create an unfair situation of being faced with the risk of having their ideas and dreams overpowered by this adult, who in sense and experience, overrides the potential in this young 'adult'.
Perhaps they would be best discovering and exploring, with someone in the same capacities as themselves. This creates balance, eliminating the risk of being bewildered.
