Our Economy is horrible. There are doom & gloomers every where you turn.
For the love of god, don't listen!!!! Times are changing friends, we need answer our competition with our education and brilliance!
Get out and get educated! Take advantage of your community colleges! Do something!!!
I've heard too many times this week manufacturing is dead in Michigan! I don't believe it!
We have so many educated and motivated workers here to carry our legacy.

We may not bring the old jobs back but we can create new ones by creating new stuff and new products to make here in America.

If your a worker in the US, please invest your money in yourself by taking college classes to learn new technologies and make yourself competitive in the new economy.

thumbs up
Gr8 Thread.
I firmly believe that Governments, worldwide, should also invest a lot more in Education as I believe it would help with other problems as well.

Completely agree with your point and its a very positive message.

The only problem is, technology in the community colleges are obselete by the time they're applied to the workplace. I agree education is key, but community colleges arent the answer.

I spent four years taking classes at a community college in order to own my own Pharmacy. By the time it was time to get out in the working world, the business model of a ma & pa pharmacy was crushed by volume distributors like Walmart.

Never plan an education based on current job markets. By the time you have the credits, the world will have moved on. Rather pay attention to trends in the market, and plan your education around those...chances are, the trends will still be culminating in a thriving new model by the time you graduate.

Good luck everyone...thumbs up

Technical magazine are fantastic for that.thumbs up

You could have made it as a pharmacist. The occuilist(sp.).Eye doctors have also been squeezed.
Auto parts SAME.

Convincing those ma and pa's,that they needed to network was no small task.
You could have gone that route.(the walmart route)Alot of work and technology ugrades involved though. thumbs up

princess49503: Whoa! I didn't think anyone was gonna respnd.....

I cam home thursday night drunk. I was arguing with some union labor workers about the future of manufacturing in Michigan.
The old feud between the company and worker is over. As a new, young worker, I am not worried about union wages or 'scab' workers. I am worried about our products being made in China.

Times are changing We need to put our dollars into ourselves.

Do you want to give a meaningful gift this Chistmas? Give the gift of tuition!!! Help out your youngins with the JC classes they been talkin about. Or help them out with campus food or Starbucks.

We have the Brilliance we just need to invest in it.

Hey Sarah.Nows a good time to push that bad joke again.applause

Maybe, but they are the stepping stone. You can't get into the engineering classes at Ferris State University with out taking Pro- E or CATIA at GRCC.

Everyone has to start somewhere. professor

Just because you hated high school doesn't mean College is your enemy.

Please don't expect the next Gen to carry on the feud with Cuba. It's over.

And the Big 3????? Who says the next car company won't come from Chicago??? Or Huntsville???
There is no garauntee the Big 3 will survive. But that doesn't mean we (new Gen) can't create our own.

Contrary to propaganda, CC credits are NOT transferrable to any university of any caliber. Sure you can transfer to U of Pheonix or U of Portland, but try to get into the local State College for Pharmacy and you'll find you wasted 4 years and $12k on credits that for the most part dont do anything...

Now, had I transferred my credits to UP, I could have at least got my BS in Chemistry, which would get me somewhere...but as for any professional degree from a quality U, nope...you'd have better luck polishing a brass lamp.

Not saying Community Colleges arent good for remedial study or trade skills such as welding. I've used them on and off for 15 years now to keep my math skills honed, but overall they're scams...You'd do better to get into online classes with U of Pheonix or something than spend all your time commuting to a campus that will ultimately get you nothing but bills and a transcript that is worth about as much as toilet paper.

This is just in relation to anyone seeking an Undergraduate Degree. If your ambition is to get an Associates, if thats all your ambitions requires, Community Colleges are great...Good luck as a Dental Assistant...thumbs up

Really good point. I started out in a community college as well. Some transferred, some didn't. I don't know if I could have afforded the extra classes if I had not had tuition assistance.

I do Know for sure, is that there are thousands of educated workers dying for a chance to use there new learned skills (me being 1 of them). We have some choices : get hired into a company, sit on unemployment, or go into business with other college graduates. The later I already see happening!
We have tons of resources & people to create new products. Our future may not be with the big 3 but it's there.

friendsfirst: Fair enough.I agree. However, the insurance(Which is a scam btw)Could also have been networked.
Seriously.I've been paying into that "insurance",forever.
Rarely did i use it.(thankfully)..I guess.

It's all about supply chain management.Sure the F.D.A.
gets kick back from the top players.Let's pick on Canada a little, for their contributions as generics producers.

Hey,i already fell off of the soap box once........

You cant network liability nor BOP insurance in pharma. Your insurance is tied to your licence, and is billed individually...the only way to engineer a low rate for lots of individuals would be to institute a co-op, like Mondragon...thumbs up

Something I'm totally for BTW, but the FDA would never allow.doh
