I was invited over to a friends for dinner on New Years Day. And as I was leaving I stepped off the last step into a stepping stone that has gravel all around the stones. As luck would have it I had my foot half way on the stone and twisted my ankle and fell. I had to lay back and laugh as to being so damn stupid and not watching where I was stepping. She wanted to go get her boyfriend to help me to my car. I laughed and said hell no I am embarrassed enough! But I immediately felt the pain but in both ankles. So I have been spending most of my time since then with my legs propped up with ice on them. I could not walk yesterday but it is better today with taking anti-inflammatory medicine. Knowing that I should go to the ER and have x-rays. I've been putting it off due to working their and the remarks that I would have to put up with. All funny ones I can assure you. Did anyone else start the New Year off on the wrong foot?

Oh Shirley, at least you deliver it with some humour.

Shirley49WV: As I seen it no use to get down over something so dang stupid of me. Might as well laugh then cry cause it would have not done any good.
Shirley, you handle things like this the way I do! No...I didn't start 2009 off that bad, thank goodness. I have, however, laughed for the same reason at an injury. I was 15, and taking driver's ed, had just returned to hang out with friends at our summer vacation spot, and decided to jump three steps. I didn't look above me to see the doorjamb where the two buildings were joined, and split my head open on it. Literally. I staunched the blood by holding my hands over the wound, and went down to meet them. When I first told them to call an ambulance, they thought I was joking because I was laughing so hard at my idiocy...they realized I wasn't joking when I removed my hands and the blood started to gush.
Anyway...yes, I would've laughed at myself in your situation, too.
I'm pretty sure I got all my antics out of my system towards the end of the year. Two concussions & numerous health battles in a new town... I think I'm all set to have a healthy year.

Hope you're feeling better Shirley. Mine was busy until New Years Eve but no falls.
Thanks Vinny your always so sweet. Going to try and go to work today hoping that I can limp my way in. Heck if I'm luck maybe I can get one of the doctors to check it out.

Know what you mean Dru, I just had to lay back in the gravel for a few minutes and laugh. Damn the diet coke....I know that is what did it to me.

pretzelman: Nothing wrong with a lady with her legs propped up!!
P.S......Hope you are feeling better
I agree with you on this on but just wished it was for another reason! Yes it is starting to feel better....well better than New Years anyway. Thanks Starlin
I took your advice and did that first thing this morning. Caught my doctor still making rounds and had him write an order for the x-rays. Then had one of our orthopedic doctors look at the films. He said he didn't see any fracture but a lot of swelling. Hell I knew that much.
He told me that I was doing everything right and to continue. And have one of our physical therapist show me some exercises to do. So for now friend I can only wait for it to heal. Thanks Vinny for always keeping on top of things.
Last year during winter I slipped on some snow on a small hill near the house and sprain an ankle. I was in a hurry and not paying attention. So, this year I avoid the hill.
