Well as of June 1st, Ontario will become a "smoke free" province...
in essence that means that smoking will be prohibited from all public places...including bars, pubs, casinos, bingo halls, restaurant and all the likes....scold

I can not comment on how it will affect you there, but, we became smoke free a long time ago. No smoking in any public establishment that serves a certain % of food.

A bar that does not serve food for its main income still allows the drinking patrons to smoke.

actually i don't mind the fact that most places are now smoke free enviroments i would rather be outside having a smoke and enjoying the weather (with the exception of winter and rainy weather but can handle it) then be inside and smoking what ever else other people are smoking. other then that i use to hate it when i went into a restaurant when i was younger and people would be smoking and everything but then i got use to it and now i'm actually happy now seeing i can enjoy my meal with out having to worry if someone is going to light up or not.

they have allocasted outside smoking areas which when you go out for a smoke can be a great conversation starter...is that what they are planning on doing there or are they banning it compleatly..

I'm amazed at the responses...truly...because people are sooo up in arms here about that...violation of rights...loss to the economy etc etc...

Is this really a health move or a political move?

I am an ex smoker and can sympathize with wanting one, however, do not miss having to strip off clothes in the garage before coming in the house.

a few places in the states are that way, and more to follow. health, i'd say, but tinged with politics, of course. everything is.

i'd LOVE to be able to take my children to more places...

In my area they put in smoking sections, so we all can enjoy our choices. I smoke. and tend to find the places that let me.

I can't wait for England to bring in a total ban.
Why it has not happened before is beyond me.
I love going to the quiz of a Sunday evening with my friends.
But just hate the smell of smoke in the pub and coming home smelling like an ashtray and in case you have'nt guessed no I don't smoke thank goodness. I would never have been able to run a car if I had.
I have to bath and wash my hair before going to bed of a dance night too, the smell of stale smoke in the morning is so awful and no good for anyone.

devil

i will go to such places, but i won't take my kids in restaurants that allow smoking, even if they have sections. i have to go through the back doors at wal-mart at times because of the people smoking at the front by the doors.

that bothers me more. i can choose not to eat at a restaurant, but i need to shop. and i most definitely have tag-alongs.

i'm not trying to get the world to quit...just make it safer for my babes. (two have asthma, and nebulizers suck.)

assuming it goes through without a hitch. there are...some issues with the wording, and noone is quite sure who will or will not be affected.

supposed to be...all workplaces have to be smoke-free.

and then there is the appeals...

As a smoker, i´m not bothered if soemone does not.
But i´m bothered of very unimportant things like, free weapons or similar.
Perhaps the senat or congress gonna get them signed like a box of cigarettes, "Caution could cause heart decease".
