Below are some of the methods to fight insomnia naturally:http://www.stop-smoking-updates.com/quitsmoking/stopping-smoking/understand-your-habit/insomnia-may-follow-after-you-quit-smoking.htm

Thanks. And this too shall pass I am sure. I am just tired of being tired during the day because of lack of sleep during the night.

Because you smoke those disgusting store-bought cigarettes! They`re full of dried sugar and tar, and dozens of chemicals, thats why they "taste" so goooooood! So now you gotta cough it all out ....aghuk aghuk aghuk!

Oooh I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on. I am heading out Saturday night and it will be my first night out drinking and with smokers since I stopped so I'm interested in how you cope with it.

Karaoke should be fun, or you could find a kissing partner. Another way to keep busy.

From what I understand, there are these cleansing fibre-type things as part of your lungs that rid your lungs of gunk. Accumlative tar and nicotine will dampen these fibres, causing them to sort of flatten. When you stop, they start to rise again and start to cleanse the sh** away from your lungs which causes the increase in coughing. You may actually even taste a tar like taste in your mouth when coughing (I felt this a bit). Maybe you aren't coughing as much because there wasn't as much sh** there. The increase in coughing (for those who experience it) should subside after a while. Mine has gone away and it's been a month or so.

For those still smoking: A little graphic experiment:

Take a large drinking glass, turn it upside down and blow cigarette smoke into it...then put it down flat on a white tile, say in the bathroom or kitchen....and leave it until all the smoke has disappeared. When you lift the glass after say, an hour, you will see a perfect circle of gummy thick yellow tar that you can run your finger through.....that's the poison you put into your lungs with JUST ONE DRAG!!!!!...now multiply that by 20 times, and you get a good idea of the tar in one cigarette....When I did this experiment, I was smoking Marlboro Lites...if you haven't tried this little experiment, do it....it will shock you.

Now I know why I'm coughing!!...doh

Strangely though, I´ve hardly been coughing at all. In fact I coughed more when I smoked.

I remember watching a documentary years ago about a 40 a day smoker who needed a heart operation. He was only about 50 but had smoked for over 30 years. The operation was filmed and the surgeon commented about how the heart had been affected by the ciggies, yet this man´s lungs were still pink in the main and in pretty good shape.

My worry is the damage to the heart rather than the lungs. I´ve always smoked Silk Cut, the mildest ciggies, even Lago´s Marlboro Lites would have been impossible for me to smoke!

Anyway, today has been very good, no cravings whatsoever, and I haven´t eaten too much. laugh

Marlboro Lites are a joke....they're heavier thn most regular ciggies...but get this....an ex of mine would smoke Marlboro Reds!!...these things were so strong, one drag and my head would be spinning...but she would tear off the filter, and the last 1/4 of the cigarette, and smoke them that way....suicide with every drag!!...
