You can not allow for any recognition of a religious doctrine in PUBLIC schools that are funded by tax dollars. That is completely ludicrous. If you allow for the observance of Christian prayer then what of the Jewish students? The Islamic? The Wiccans? The Satanist? Where does it end?

We started off with religion, did we not? Now we are clearly into politics.... and there is a great void between the too, however one wants to "mix" them.
First of all, strapping a bomb to one's self is PERCEIVED as a religous gesture.... when, in fact, its not!! Its political... pure and simple. Do you think the person that has strapped a bomb to themselves sees it as political? Of course not.... do they see it as a religious gesture..... YES!!! Why is that? Why are they not clear on exactly what its about? Think about it...?
We are ALL subjected to "conditioning".... in some cases, one may say "brain-washing"..... but to varying degrees. Just because one is living in a "free democratic society" do not think that the transparency we THINK we are afforded is just that.... transparent! We are all "fed" what we are ALLOWED to know..... there is much that we don't!
I could go on further and bore everyone rigid but..... I'm knackered and off to bed!!

Hun I dis-agree, It is not political (strapping bombs to their kids) that is very much part of their RELIGIOUS beleif to kill. anyone who is not of the islamic faith and by killing themselves in the process, they beleive to become a myrtarer and get all the virgins etc etc... There shouldn't be prayer in schools. Not even a "moment of silence."
They should be freaking LEARNING from the time they get to school until the time they get on the bus to go home. There is too much emphasis on things other than learning. (ie sports, clubs, silent time)
Get back to the freaking books.
Children who are praying in school don't even know who or what they are really praying to. The concept of "God" is GIVEN to them. How many kids do you think have researched other faiths and spiritual paths before electing to believe in the God of Abraham? (because thats the god we're talking about)
NONE.
It's all forced upon them by their parents and their parents before them. Show me a kid that has researched the beginnings of their parent's religions. Show me a kid that knows the Sumerian Kings List, the Eddas, the Book of the Dead, the Epic of Gilgamesh.
You can't find any.
