Most children are afraid to express their own opinion on religion. I remember when I was younger, much younger like elementary school age; I had a friend who had very devout Christian parents. At the time I didn’t understand what this was all about but her parents used to tell her things like "if she was bad, god would flood the earth again and drown everyone."
The idea that Atlantis might be a memory of the fabulous palaces, courts and temples of Minoan Crete was proposed originally in an anonymous letter published by The Times newspaper in 1909 and found later to have been written by an Irish student named K. T. Frost. It was subsequently developed by a number of Mediterranean writers and historians (see reading list) and is today the most academically accepted theory on the origins of the Atlantis legend.
Well you would need to effectively discredit all of the evidence that has been posted thus far. I don’t understand why you would feel it impossible that Atlantis was directly based off the real people and culture of Minoan Crete. Is it because they were a matrifocal civilization?
pretzelman: There is no war against Christians...only a war waged by Christians against anyone who disagrees with them
Eventually when they run out of people and things to go to war with, all the denominations will go to war against one another. Thats what Im waiting on.
No need to worry. when men hinder God God gets bigger. For the Lost. God Loves these Atheist's cant stop me from praying in my head lol good luck with that so pray for them and don't fight a losing battle.

This is exactly what I was saying on another forum yesterday Ship, its the Christians themselves who create the enemies based on all their 'thou shalt nots' and percieved enemies based on their Holy book - they then have the temerity nay, the audacity, to pretend they will pray for our salvation - its they who are the supreme judgmentalists and they who need scapegoats and enemies in order to perpetuate their nonsence - that isnt goodness, that is people control - disagreeing with them is grist for their mill and keeps the whole thing in motion....
This is what the great commission is about - go find people that disagree with us that we may preach righteousness to the masses and get publicity for our cause - as the west is becoming increasing secular, the missionaries are concentrating on the third world countries and often, this is in a none too ethical manner of exploitation which is dressed up quite differently when they are collecting money to fund it all on a sunday morning - this link to conversion watch is quite an eye opener and corroborates what I have said....
sambhava: There is only ONE God, and that is ALLAH! And ALL you infidels shall surely perish by the sword!!!
Ahhhhhhh....... the good old days when one fought for one's God against another's God - and the best God won (unless Christians were fighting Christians or Muslims were fighting other Muslims or one hindu sect against another, etc! )
There is only ONE God, and that is the God of human greed and power that decides to take away from others to ensure his/her particular genes are doing better in the survival stakes......... and those who don't believe it can try to live in peace and harmony, but risk being blown to bits by shrapnel from suicidal bombers for having the temerity to question reality!
Oh to live in a nice peaceful south pacific island before the white man intervened and where, if you had a quarrel with your neighbour, any major dispute was settled by one of you ending up eating the other!

In response to: The US was NEVER intended to be a "Christian Nation! You ""Christians"" have started a War against every one else!
This is true Conrad and some of us Americans are well aware of this fact but we are up against a bunch of fanatical religious zealots who will espouse lies about this nation’s founders.
"The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend all to the happiness of man. But compare with these the demoralizing dogmas of Calvin. 1. That there are three Gods. 2. That good works, or the love of our neighbor, is nothing. 3. That faith is every thing, and the more incomprehensible the proposition, the more merit the faith. 4. That reason in religion is of unlawful use. 5. That God, from the beginning, elected certain individuals to be saved, and certain others to be damned; and that no crimes of the former can damn them; no virtues of the latter save."
Thomas Jefferson-The third president of the United States

Jefferson was an interesting man - and quite a deep thinker for a politician!
