I was thinking about how people meet and fall in love online. It's becoming quite common these days.
There may be a time when the days of high school sweethearts meet, fall in love and get married, a distant memory of the past.
We have online colleges, online dating sites, online chat rooms....
Even some high schools have classes online.
Could there be a day when the question "where did you 2 meet" has to be answered online at such and such a place? Will there be virtual proms? Virtual high school sweethearts?

Well I would have hated to have fallen in love with a school friend... I went to a private all girls school
I met him online. I was infatuated with his floppy disk and then his hard drive. He told me he liked my huge pixels. We fell in love and had little Ipod..........music to my ears

When I first saw this new website "Another Life" - or something similar, I was really freaked out. A virtual life - a virtual job - a virtual lover - virtual children...
Frightening..
The internet may be good for some things, agreed..
And the stigma of online dating has dissapated to a degree, agreed..
I still think that forming a relationship with some has to be done in real life. There is no real chemistry on line. I think dating online is ok, as far as widening the social net and making introductions but I think the real nitty gritty of a relationship is only worked out face to face.
So I guess what Im saying is this..I use the internet for lots of things;as regards getting to know my potential mate passed the introductory/chat/emails stage? No.
As you know, my daughter is homeschooled. And yes, there are many classes available online for homeschooled students. She has as many online friends as I do.

I agree Petalbabe...the internet is a great conduit to meet people. The proof of success is in the actual meeting face to face.

It could happen.
People use to walk around the neighborhood after dinner and wave to all their neighbors and friends.
Now what you see on the same walk are locked doors and bars on the windows.
We use to have relatives a couple of blocks away...not just one relative, but alot of them. Now we are lucky if they are in the same state.
Virtual friendship, love, acquaintences are here to stay and it will become more prevalent as time goes by.

That is so true. And when women were about to have a baby, it was the sisters, aunt, and mothers who prepared her for what was to come. Now we have classes and doulas - I'm thinking I would love to be a doula!
