Lagoona22: Hey Phoenix, how do you rate Bob Dylan in all of this?...
...and why the heck do you guys have such high regard for Johnny Cash??...I was never that impressed actually....
I think Dylan is fantasic...I'd put him on the platform' as Woody Guthrie. Hes excellent(Dylan)..He has a radio show and its dynamite..When I get a new mouse I'll dig out the link or Ipod thingy..
As for Johnny Cash...Listen to one of his last songs 'Hurt'. Its about himself 'shooting up' when he knew he was dying...
Johnny Cash wasnt just a singer but a story teller, similar to Tom T Hall. But he drew alot form the share croppers in Arkansas.
I can't explain it but for me there is the Truck Driver, Hank, Johnny and Waylon..Just me..
Scubadiva: You don't want to know what I think of that genre
Some years ago, I drove from LA to NY. En route, I had to drive through some areas where there was but one radio station and all they played was what sounded like someone suffering from extreme depression, pain, disillusionment, heartbreak and bereavement over the death of a dog or "dear momma." It used to be that I could stomach the occasional C&W song before that trip, but since then.... forget it!
When the AM Station in Miami was playing Country-Western,back in the Seventies,my Radio was tuned to it 24/!
By the way, here is Nashville Tennessee's oldest Country Radio Station!
Then click on "Listen Live" up toward the Righthand Corner. Need to install Microsoft "Silverlight" to get it to play. Try without though first, because I tried a different Station first and that might was the requirement for that one. Try it you might like it.Been listening to that Station off and on for five years Online! Listening to it now!!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree with you scuba, it´s my least favourite type of music. The old joke....play a country & western song backwards and you get a happy ending!
Lagoona22: I hate to admit it, but I love country and western music....does this mean I am a country boy at heart??..unsophisticated and uncultured??...should I buy a truck and get a job on a farm...?..
What kinda music do you listen to, and what do you think of this genre?..
My Gosh, so much cool music around. My playlist contains virtually everything and anything by Pink Floyd. That would be the overriding force. Lots of Marley, Rolling Stones and Motown. Rock on babies!
Country and Western is a 'give me', considering where I come from.
DrTuareg: If you think I was being serious at all, you've listened to way too much country music ol' cowboy
Listening to some as we "speak". There is however a Bunch of different Music on my Computer,Classical,Jazz,Pop.I f I mentioned some of the Composers, you might even recognize a few!

Conrad73: Wagner,Beethoven,Tchaikovsky,just to name a few.
Wagner Love is Brazilian and plays for CSKA Moscow who won the UEFA cup final a few years ago. He got his second part of the name while in the youth academy of Brazilian side Palmeiras, when caught in the room with a girl.
I have no idea which clubs Beethoven and Tchaikovsky play for.

I had my own country ("Western-Swing") group for about 10 years here in France.
