Englishman55: Maybe

My most dependable pudding dish has to be where I make a move out of my front door.... stride about 100 paces into my nearest "gelato" bar for one of the finest Italian ice-creams in this fair land..... mmmmm !

No particular flavour... they are all good.

OK, then. It's gelato at 100 paces.

Put 'em up!

Some gelato I'm a more partial to, such as limone and cioccolate. The luscious, smoooooth taste, with a touch of tartiness. giggle flirty

venere08: Fabulous, smoky! I look forward to hearing the results of the taste test.

Well, I love anything with lemons, so I will be making your Lemon Flan on the weekend, as I'm away the next 2 days. I can't wait, particularly in our warm weather, it will be soooo refreshing.

Looks like I need to buy some dessert wine.
The pudding was fabulous! and SO easy!

Except I dunked the biscuits a little bit TOO long and they were a bit wet .... next time just a quick dip.

Boyfriend loved it ... said next time we make it with Sherry instead of coffee!

Thanks Venere ..... the recipe will be remembered and made often!wine

I'm so glad, smoky!

I wouldn't suggested only Sherry for the next time though.

The coffee is a must, but do add the sherry. Make sure it's not too much, as the taste will be too overpowering. I know. I tried it brandy. Less is more (alcohol) in this dessert.JMO

This weekend, I needed to make a quick easy pudding for a small dinner party on Saturday night ........... Found I had some Caramel biscuits ........ ah ha! Dunked them in Sherry, neat and pure ..... small container of cream whipped up and thinly layered ...... made 3 layers ...ending with cream, sifted a leetle bit of chocolate powder over the top, like a light dusting of brown snolw ..... and left enough Sherry for me to drink while making it ... and a couple biscuits to munch on .....

This filled a really small little oblong dish ..... but fed 5 with half left over ... cause it was just Sherry-enough and tasty enough to finish off a good dinner ... and Most Impressive!

Actually, the other half went down well with coffee for breakfast this morning!grin .... for me and the 2 grandkids! (their folks are away so we can eat what we like)devil

Sounds perfect, smoky!

Ah, don't worry about the kiddies. My mother used to pack us off to school as few mornings a week, with fresh raw egg from her hens, with some sugar and marsala fortified wine. Happy daze!heart wings laugh

Ja, an Italian friend of mine (the one who put me off Italians for life!)..... told me about the olden days when he was young, and they hadn`t invented "Thermal" wear, or snowsuits ..... they had newspaper in their vests, and straw in their shoes against the European winters ..... and Mama made the Zaba-something-or-other like you saying ...... to keep them warm when they left for school in the mornings!drinking wine

Imagine todays kids wearing short pants, normal leather shoes, and cotton shirts, and a little old fashioned non-thermal jacket, in winter...here....?

Another summer variation, great for the kiddies, is to dip the biscuits, or even ordinary sponges, in pineapple juice.

Top with fresh, sliced strawberries, and/or kiwi fruit/banana, and whipped cream. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! (Add a touch of alcohol if ya like!innocent )

Not quite a dessert, but...

A yummy low cal treat when I want to lose weight in summer but not go without goddies, is to keep a jar of morello cherries in the 'fridge, and a bottle of Bombay gin also kept cold.

Spoon some cherries in to a fancy dessert dish, drizzle some Bombay gin over said cherries, add a couple of tbs of tick low fat cream, grated cinnamon stick, and voila', heaven!smitten

Mind you, adding the morello cherries to the sponge pudding would also be divine!
