There are no passions that are so great of the feelings we have of Love and Hate. For as one brings to us the greatest of pleasure, the other brings anger in no short measure.
Hatred consumes with a fire in our heart, welled up indignation it tries to impart Connecting emotions with lust and spite, feeding itself with a rage to ignite
Hatred can sallow through passage of time, compassion and understanding will sublime. For hate to survive it needs to be fed so give pitty to hate with fervour instead

About this poem:
I strongly believe that hate is an emotion that if we let it take hold, it will drag us down and destroy our very soul. It is possible that we can overcome our hatred with rational thought. It is also possible that hatred is a desire to destroy that is incurable by time.
I would appreciate any comments or insights into what HATE is.
Hi, Orpheus, Hatred consumes with a fire in our heart... Hate of something gives that something power over one's life as it consumes the moment. Focusing on those things we love, trying to increase their numbers, creates a world with less room for hate.

"Feeding itself with a rage to ignite" ~ this line could describe so many that never see how good they make their lives if only they stop feeding their rage. Wonderful write Orpheus!

Hi gnj4u
Hate appears to be a common thing in today's world but the hardest thing to explain. My feeble attempt to describe it pales in comparison to those like Aristotle, even David Hume (renowned Scottish philosopher) said it is a feeling that can not be described. As poetry gives emotion to words I thought it may also be a better method of describing Hate.

They say that hatred is the purest of emotion because it never wavers. Love is a little more capricious. I agree with one of your other poems...that hatred is just a form of fear. I don't hate anything but I do fear things. Thanks for puting it up there Orpheus

Love and Hate are two sides of the same coin. They are friends.
One who knows Love knows Hate.
