A long and lonely walk along the Wolds
To see the spring as it unfolds
Rolling meadows that now are green
With spots of colour to be seen
As daffodils poke through the ground
Perhaps to take a look around
The bluebells cluster all together
As if to seek protection from the weather
I notice the wind and the path it takes
As patterns in the grass it makes
New blossom on the trees like dust
Falls like snow with each fresh gust
Faint sound are carried on the breeze
Of singing birds and rustling trees
And as I reach the bottom of the dell
A babbling brook with tales to tell
Having seen the beauty of this place
Lonely feelings I now replace
In the company of nature at her best
I can’t help feeling, I’m just a guest

Come spring as the birds do nest
Soon yon chicks with beaks apart
Wait impatiently their feed to start
Orpheus paints a wondrous scene
'Tis good to read what he has seen
Shadows flee that truth may stay,
Oldness to the new gives away
And night’s darkness to the light.
It was a lovely just to wander in the countryside.
I am pleased that you enjoy my poetry.
So pleased to have been able to remind you of some good times. I used to love being in the countryside with my parents, did not always see the beauty as clearly as I do now. I love the three lines of poetry and wonder if you will post the rest for us to read sometime.
Take care sweet lady
sounds lonely but this is a lovely poem!!! Sometimes I think you should get lost in the wolds, (lol) so that you would write us a poem, "lost in the wolds", too.... LOL
Nice one and beautiful... thank you Orpheus!
Nature in all her glory is a pleasure beyond price: But as we have seen, in all her fury she is every demon in Hell unleashed.
How lucky we are in our part of the world that she shows us her beauty much more often than her fury. Great pic.
Regards
Bill
Perhaps I shall attempt to get 'Lost in the Wolds' and then write a poem about it, just for you.
