A Sunshine Delight

dancing to the sun
knees folded
making daisy chains
for fun

His glasses slanted
reflecting rainbows
he looked at me with love
I knew it
I felt safe
the warmth from up above

a rickety chair
his lap blanket near

all crocheted
with nana's hands

I touched and smelt
her beautiful lavender air

"Poppa?" I asked
"why do like the sea"?

"Ah! he said
When I am gone
come here again

this is where I'll be"

That's nice
then you'll never go?

"my heart is here"
he said

then lovingly

patted me on the head

Hi, sophiasummer,
"Ah! he said When I am gone come here again this is where I'll be". It is a gift to have a place to "come home to" and feel safe and warm. Moved by the love in this write, I thank you for sharing your loving memories of Poppa with us.

Hi Sophia,

A trip down memory lane. Pop and Nanna...I can relate to this. My Pop was Scottish and Nanna was a Geordie. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories. wine bouquet
