Thirty seconds was all it took For his world like an earthquake to shook He just wanted a number from his pocket book And took the time out to have a look
He never say the brake lights shining Only started seeing no clouds with silver lining He heard metal and rubber seemingly combining He saw death even as for life he was pining.
The news came to hear via the telephone later She screamed and screamed but felt no better She sent a silent prayer for life to the Creator Even as she wondered if he was a traitor.
At the hospital she became the woman of rage Screaming at everyone; the Drama Queen on stage Even she forgot to fill in his age She got mad and went off on an arguing rampage
Nothing seemed to be right or ever going that way She cursed the Missionary who offered to sit and pray Asking why she thinks she needed to pray that day "Where was your God when this was happening to Ray."
On a gurney Ray laid his world black as night He could hear even if he had no sight He wished for her he could make it right As he knew this was not her talking but fright
He will his hand to move in her direction She saw it move just a fraction That was enough to draw her attention And she drew hope from that small action
She took a moment to send a prayer heaven bound She spoke to him hoping he could hear the sound He lay silent even as he gloried in the fate she had found "Don't die my darling," she whispered, "I need you around."

I enjoyed your poem. It was the first I had read in this site or any other. It is hard to find the word that expresses how it made me think and feel. I thought it charming and could relate a little to well to it's subject.
